Gold leaf is a treasure given to me.
HISASHI ITSUAKI, a craftsman who affixes gold leaf to moldings, one of Kyoto's traditional crafts, gives a strong answer.
ITSUAKI not only finishes Buddhist altars, mortuary tablets, and Buddhist statues with gold leaf,
The emblem of Kyoto City Hall, the roof tiles decorated with gold leaf of Osaka Castle, Tiffany's bags, etc.
I am doing work that is not bound by traditional crafts.
In such work, ITSUAKI has been working for many years on a technique called "Kyo no Juushi".
The technique of slightly reducing the brightness of the gold leaf makes it possible to emphasize the solidity of the gold.
ITSUAKI expands the range of ideas and is challenging things that gold leaf has never been used before.
Kendama, mahjong tiles, skeleton masks, even smartphone cases...
This time, with the delicate and precise work of "foil stamping",
We would like to introduce HISASHI ITSUAKI who challenges the possibilities.
