I don't care...Eddie DeBartolo was the absolute greatest 49ers ownership the 49ers ever had from their inception. We miss you Eddie D & wish you were still the owner of the "San Francisco 49ers."

My wife is friends with Tiffany DeBartolo. She had no clue about her father, when I met her and she told me her name I asked and my wife was amazed. She’s a very nice woman, she obviously has money because in talking with her she travels a lot but she’s very friendly and down to earth.

Nobody is perfect. People make mistakes. Biggest difference is that most people won’t admit they made a mistake. Eddie D admitted he made a mistake by bribing the governor for a gaming license. He should be in the HOF!

I consider Eddie D the greatest team owner in the entire history of North American professional team sports. The only other comparable one would be George Steinbrenner.

George Steinbrenner was terrible. I lie in New York and know. Growing up I was a Mets fan and laughed at how he did stupid $hit in the 80s to ruin his team. I was also a Football Giants fan an admired the 49ers' ownership.

I live in Youngstown. Born and raised here. Youngstown, Ohio does produce a lot of professional athletes, coaches, actors, ect. But, nobody has ever stuck around after becoming successful. Im very proud to call Youngstown home, but i cant blame them for leaving. Its not a great place to live. But, Eddie DeBartolo and the current owner, Denise Debartolo-York did not leave after becoming so successful!! They still live here and not only do they still live here, they are a huge part of the city!! They are constantly donating to charities in the area and constantly donating to make the city a better place. I have nothing but respect for these guys. Even tho the 49ers play across the country in California, it still always feels like Youngstown, Ohio has a team of their own in the NFL. I just wish the city wasn't so small. If we were a little bit bigger, i believe they would be playing out of Youngstown and not San Francisco. But compared to other cities that NFL teams are based in, Youngstown is extremely tiny and as of today, i just don't see how or where they could build the stadium and practice facilities and whatever else they would need. I just can't see it ever happening due to that reason. Its simply just not a city big enough to home an NFL team.

Love the comment. Are the 9ers your team ? Can you move to San Francisco?
@OhioBoii330
@OhioBoii330 3 ай бұрын
@markjackson5333 Thank you! And ehhh, kindaaa but not really. I'm literally smack dab in the middle of Cleveland and Pittsburgh 10 mins away from the P.A border. Sooo, I do tend to be a Browns fan. It's like a 50-50 area with Browns and Steeler fans. I'm also a fan of the Dolphins and have been pretty much my entire 34 years of life back when Dan Marino was their QB, lol. However, my whole area of Youngstown is extremely supportive of the 9ers, including myself because the owners of the team are not only from here, but they still live here to this day and this is where the whole DeBartolo family has it's cemetery plots and the ones who have passed are already buried here. They do so much for our community that it's hard for us not to support them and wish them nothing but success. It also means a lot at least to me that they never turned their backs on us and even after becoming extremely successful, they decided to live here and die here. (At least be buried here, lol.) They decided to stay and help the community and not give up on it like a lot of other people would. I don't think I could ever move to San Francisco because I'm personally can not stand the state of California. I just don't like how their government runs the state and I don't agree with their policies and beliefs. But, I do in fact appreciate the DeBartolos and everything they do for us and will always support the 9ers and wish them nothing but the best for the team.

@@OhioBoii330 thanks for that insight. So you are a browns and Steelers fan because you are in the middle of the 2 cities ? And a 9ers fan for the owners . Dolphins for Dan. Surprised you didn't mention bengals. I wish they won this bowl. Dropped int
@OhioBoii330
@OhioBoii330 3 ай бұрын
@markjackson5333 Lol, noo. I'm not a Steelers fan, at all. My family is, but I'm not. I'd rather see the Browns do good and to beat the Steelers. Cincinnati, thats just too far for me to have any connections with. I'm in the North East Ohio and Cincinnati is in the very South Western part of the state. I don't hate the Bengals tho. But, I just don't care to much if they win or lose. If they were to make it to the Superbowl or into the playoffs, I'd like to see them do good. But, I don't really care if they were to lose, ya know. So, I'm just a fan of Cleveland and Miami and just support the 9ers and like to see them do well. But, if S.F were to play Cleveland or Miami, I would have to go with Cleveland or Miami. When Miami and Cleveland play each other, I'd rather the Browns win, but would be happy for Miami winning, too. Lol.

The NFL better put Eddie D in the HOF before he passes away, or I'll never forgive Roger Goodell for not making it happen (even if he's not directly responsible, he's got SOME power to make it happen) 4:04 he was derided for saying "the NFL is a business" meanwhile the NFL puts a game in primetime just because a player is dating a celebrity

FOOTBALL?????? How it came to be that the strange American game we see in this film, was given the name 'Football' I really can't imagine?....?....... It demonstrates no small amount of ignorance + arrogance, what was behind this bizarre idea ?????? All I see are reasons not to call it 'Football' yet somehow the ridiculous idea of calling the game 'Football' was decided upon. There's one very clear issue, consider this, you've invented a new card game + before you present it to the world you need to give it a name............ You decide to call it 'Poker'. Would you do that??? Call it 'Poker'??? I doubt it, that name has already been taken, for one thing, + it so happens to be about the most popular game out there. Only a total 'Dick Sponge' (my mate's kid coined that one) would go with 'Poker' + I've got nothing but reasons why not to. So, what's all this about???? Why take the name of an already existing sport, in this case football, + use it to name another, new sport. These people were mentally deficient in some way, were they???? Or crack-heads, there was no need whatsoever for 2 different sports to end up sharing the same name, wtf were they thinking?!?!? There was one new sport + therefore one new name was all that was needed but when the new name surfaced once again it proved too much. There were now 2 'football' options to choose from, 2 different games both called football............ There's the original, known all over the world, God's game, 'The Beautiful Game', the best known/most watched/most loved game on the face of the planet............ + there's this American thing where they wear helmets + all operate together as a single unit, smashing in to each other ending up on the floor like a big crash site. Who's got the ball is anyone's guess, technical beauty you won't find, it's all body-busting bundles, a territorial land grab that gives the kids who aren't any good at sport, a chance. Football doesn't suit the game at all, not just because it belongs elsewhere, it's illogical, too, but nothing was going to change it. Where the word 'Soccer' came from, I don't know??? I do know the idea behind it was viewed as continuing arrogance + ignorance, by me + plenty others around the world. It was almost comical to me that you want to change the name of football when right from the start it was that game of yours that needed a name + it's been dick move, one after the other. Next time, pick a name that's not already been used, + maybe one that's a bit more fitting.............. How about Karen????? Football is already taken, Dick Sponge!!!!!! It's the number one team sport on the planet, nothing else even comes close. Your game pales into insignificance by comparison, it can't compete on any level, the start, stop, drawn out nature of the game kill it on that fact alone, the almost total lack of technical skill in the game gives kids nothing to be inspired by, what exactly can a kid practice for hours + hours, getting off his arse + on to his feet???? No wonder you obsessed about the name of the game, like some weirdo spoilt kid.............. I give it another 20 years + football will have taken over the NFL, it's only a matter of time, the sooner the better for everyone. Your game is parochial + of no interest to anyone outside of the US, football is something US involvement is nowhere near what it should be, the US will win the World Cup before long + the MLS will be the league everyone will want to play in. It's already got Messi, what else do you need to know???? The MLS is going places. The US will beat England in a major tournament............. that's an indignity I'm going to have to suffer at some point.......... I did say England would win something in my lifetime, + I'm pretty sure I did mention all that stuff about getting bitten by a vampire + becoming immortal, which does tie into my England prediction. I hoped becoming one of the undead wouldn't be necessary...................

The 49ers I've always been owned by "connected" Italian families. The Debartalo family purchased the 49ers from the Colombo family. Both of these families are Italian and connected. This is one of the reasons Eddie lost the team. Eddie was caught doing a "cash in a bag" deal for a riverboat gambling license. When Eddie gave ownership over to his sister he effectively kept the 49ers in the family. So for those of you who don't know, the 49ers are gangster and always have been.
