was born in 1967 and became a Steeler fan during childhood. I was able to see a few games at Three Rivers. The Steelers as well as the Yankees were such a major part of my childhood as they are today. Franco embodied what what it meant to be a real Steeler. That whold 70s team moved as one unit. I've met Steeler fans all ovver the globe and just from being Steelers fans ....It developed into friendships which I still have to this day. Like our team..Steelers fans are a special and unique collective.

All those accolades, and he was the most humble person. When I was working at Orange Julius in Allegheny Center Mall, he'd come to the booth with his son. Always said, "please", always a "thank you", and he'd chat as I filled his order, or as he waited his turn in line. And...not one person referred to him as Mr Harris. Not out of any disrespect, but because he was such a "man of the people", an accessible idol/hero to all Steeler fans. Many players today should take a lesson from his playbook. Rest easy Franco, you more than fulfilled your role on Earth.

Sadly ,politics reared its ugly head and the politically correct .

Well, that was most likely a catch. The controversy was in that Fuqua could have been the only one to touch the ball with his hands. However, that point is not definitive, even with the luxury of digitized replay today. At the time, there was no replay used to determine the game result. So, it’s all moot! From what they knew at the time, it was a TD! Steelers win!
