I miss the early and mid 00s NFL where you had John Lynch, Polamalu, Harrison, Dawkins, Ray Lewis, Urlacher and the like. Today defenders are all about speed and agility, those guys would make you think twice before coming across the middle.

@@Terror832 The run game is no longer a staple it's an accessory. Most NFL teams are pass first now. The Fullback doesn't even exist anymore. Even O linemen are expected to be running down the field on screens and draws.
@WhoopityDoo
@WhoopityDoo 2 жыл бұрын
@@AirEmOut Nobody is a "feared hitter" any longer because most of those hits draw penalties. The NFL is scared to death of the ramifications of CTE (future lawsuits that would probably bankrupt them, considering what they knew about it even 15 years ago) and has changed the rulebook over the years to reflect that. On top of that, most of these so called "feared hitters" you're referring to were usually just pieces of shat that constantly took cheap shots to the head, including the subject of this video.
@AirEmOut
@AirEmOut 2 жыл бұрын
@@WhoopityDoo I understand the first paragraph and totally disagree with the second paragraph. Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, Ray Lewis even James Harrison weren't pieces of crap they just played the game violent as it was probably coached to them. They played the game how it was played back then.

This is a man that always stayed unapologetically true to himself and never wavered from that vision. He knew he was still able to produce at that high level even when the Steelers gave up on him yet again, and they were the ones that had asked him to come out of his happy retirement. He goes to the Patriots and almost wins a third super bowl ring with them. His balance, functional core strength, leverage and tactical hand warfare were unmatched. The way he walks his life makes him a giant among men.

They had so much respect for and fear of James Harrison, the Ravens hired a player specifically to guard against Harrison's rush [I don't recall the player's name but I do remember he was what appeared to be about two feet taller then Harrison]. It's a team sport, but it's amazing what a person can do for the whole team. Time with family is more important than football, but I can only imagine the fear caused by any rumor if you followed Le'Veon Bell or Antonio just for fun. I'm a Giants fan, but I enjoyed every snap that I could catch. I watched every Steelers game that I could while Harrison played. I absolutely had a blast, especially since they are in the AFC!

For sure - I understand that man in a way I never appreciated before this. His pragmatism, his sense of humor, his honesty, his purpose. Media really did a job on him - maybe he cultivated it to a degree, but the media was really only interested in one aspect.

One of the most underrated defensive players ever! Responsible for arguably the greatest play in SB history. Was held on like every play lol. Amazing story, amazing player, Cowher is right he's a throw back player, loved watching him play.

being a fan was a little bit of a roller coaster and all I wanted was for him to come back. This series captured an unlikely story and his attitude pretty well. It's crazy he was 39 when he retired and playing that physical of a position. He carried the legacy of a Steelers linebacker well.

I can only imagine if Harrison &Lloyd had played together. That would have been something. Definitely upheld tradition and could have played with the Steel Curtain of the 1970's. Jack Lambert went to Kent State as well.

As they said he breaks the mold, as a Kansas City chiefs fan, plenty and out most respect. Didn’t like how he single handedly did to us in a few games but no one did it like Deebo. Lol. This definitely gave a different perspective of him. But he was the best that played his possession. Thanks James, you made nfl fun to watch , and every time steeler play KC , all I get say is ,oh boy.

Man dudes steady. Look how long he kept that stare down in the beginning. Cold, motionless stare. I loved the way he played. He seems like a good dude. But he is a true player when he stepped on that field!
