Putting affixes in the middle of a word is called infixing. Tagalog has some degree of infixing. E.g., kain (eat), kUMain (ate); talon (jump), tUMalon (jumped).

My mother is fluent in Javanese. I had no idea that it's a VOS-language, but it certainly belongs to the same language family (called Austronesian) as Malagasy in Africa, as are Hawaiian, Rapa Nui in Chile, and Maori in New Zealand. In fact, the numbers are quite similar, I'm giving you an example in Malagasy and Javanese: 3 : telu 7 : fitu/pitu 8 : walu 10: fulu/pulu

What a lovely informative video about this rarely spoken language. I must say that I don't appreciate the way too many pictures the popping up every time you are trying to emphasize a word. It is distracting.

@dylanwelch82284 жыл бұрын
It is a language. In Spanish, European conquistadores (the Spaniards) used the word “dialecto” to undermine and dismiss indigenous languages. However in English, we make no such distinction. Akateko is just as much of a language as is English, Spanish, Arabic or Chinese. Saying Akateko is only a dialect and not a true “language” is akin to saying that French isn’t a true language, rather a dialect of Latin which simply isn’t true.
