A Forgotten Town in Northern Texas - Driving through Northern Texas, we stumble upon a forgotten town. This town, unlike most towns in Texas, is a virtual time capsule filled with forgotten items from the past. Not only that, this small town in the middle of nowhere happens to be in the top 500 best places to live in the United States of America!!!

It always amazes me how many backroad towns have been forgotten... I think about all the people who were there when the town was rolling but now are gone. I wish there more preservation of these places for our future generations to see and visit. Thanks Sally and Marty.

You're welcome :) I'd be willing to bet, though, in these forgotten towns, some of the townsfolk like it just the way it is. Quiet. No tourists. Things the way they've always been. At least, that would be me, if I lived in one of them, lol.

I GREW UP THERE, THAT CAFE WITH THE ROYAL CROWN COLA AD WAS SKELLY CAFE. GREAT FOOD, AND EVEN HAD A JUKEBOX IN IT! WE WOULD EAT THERE BEFORE THE FOOTBALL GAMES! I PLAYED FOOTBALL AND BASEBALL ON THOSE FIELDS! I ATTENDED THE SKELLYTOWN SCHOOL BACK IN THE DAY, AND I RECENTLY DID A VIDEO ON MY KZbin CHANNEL OF THE INSIDE OF THE OLD SCHOOL BUILDING. IT WAS BUILT IN THE 20’s AND SHUT DOWN AROUND 2000. ~SKELLYTOWN~

Wow, - been a while since we visited Skellytown to see aunt Lee, uncle Howard and Bryan. Aunt Lee passed in 2013, 95 years old. Bryan and I are the same age, 81. 1955, we visited on Halloween, put a log across main street to celebrate. Uncle Howard worked at Carbon black, so we are related High school was in White Deer.

its pronounced Skelly Town not skeelyton ! i know because my grandmaw Flippo and aunt Joyce lived there on the main street for as long as i can remember . I was born in Borger Tx in 1949 and lived in White Deer Tx until i was 4 then we moved to Lefors Tx . My dad worked for Northern Natural Gas , which had natural gas pipe line boosting plants both in Lefors (Grayco Plant) and the plant in Skellytown . My uncle Ervin Carper worked at the Skellytown plant . Both plants had housing built on site for the employees . Northern Natural Gas was sold to Enron in the early 70"s and the Greyco plant in Lefors was demolished , forcing us to move to Pampa Tx in 1964 .I dont know exactly when the Skellytown plant was demolished , my uncle died in 1968 while i was in Vietnam Both were converted to computer controlled opperation from the home office in Omaha Nebraska .i visited the site in 1994 and there wasnt hardly any evidence that either even existed
