It is nice that you are documenting the history of these towns because it helps bring a level of respect for those who helped build America.

The Milford Lions Club meets in former Union Pacific dining car 4053, built by Pullman in 1929 as Union Pacific 326. It was rebuilt in 1946 to a maintenance-of-way dining car.

There are a couple of those showing folks fixing up the old Airstreams. They aren't easy to restore, as nothing is square - but they are really cool trailers!

You should check out Beaver Utah also on I15. It has been over 25 years since we stayed there but it has a few interesting old houses. We took a tour of the old town hall and the elderly tour guide claimed to be Butch Cassidays cousin and insisted strongly that Butch did return and did not die in Bolivia. His large family came from that area.

I forgot something. I live in NC these days, and there was quite a push to move hog farms out of some areas of the state a few years back. Smithfield moved some of their operations to Milford. The main cause of the problems in NC were the hog lagoons and folks complaining that they were leaching into waterways. Honestly, I think the main problem was the smell and we have a lot of folks from other places that have moved here not realizing what hog farms smell like. NC still produces a lot of pork though, and the hubbub settled down to virtual silence now. Smithfield was bought out by a Chinese company btw.

Do they still have that giant pork farm on the outskirts of Milford? That fragrance was truly memorable!

Marty the Town of Siren ironically had sirens for tornados that didn't work when a tornado hit in the late 1990s, you should check it out, much of the town was damaged by the tornado. They may still have one sitting around, I know they attempted to get them all working after the tornado. The phone company was responsible with getting them working, by now they likely have a different system. Nice little town, Thank you guys for the video.

I swear I think I remember hearing about that on the national news at the time!

Siren, WI tornado was in June 2001. My husband and I were in that area a few days before the town got mostly leveled by that tornado. We were shocked at the damage when we went back later and only a handful of the old buildings were still standing.

I stand. Corrected on your last video. It was first an underground collapse. Later they came back to try to open pit it and it collapsed also. Great job on Milford. Who would have guessed that's how it got named. Always enjoy 😉 😊

I think that white cart may have been an ice cart as opposed to an ice cream cart. Just a thought. I haven't been to Milford in years, but lived for 3-4 years not far (in western terms) away. There was/is copper ore in those hills, and the area there is the only place in Utah that produces gold in any real quantity these days. Still some semi-active mining. The Great Basin NP is not far from there, and I hope you guys went to visit it. Just the drive to it goes through some fascinating geology and ecosystems.

Blooming Grove, now Monona Wi had a similar Siren at the corner of What is now Dean Ave and Monona Drive…I remember it sounding every day at noon…Then it was replaced with a modern “Rotating” Horn style Siren..To us, the Original was an “Iconic” Remembrance to our childhood…Now the Siren is gone, having been relocated to the City Hall with the resemblance of a Cheap Electronic Device!…Sounding only on the “First” Monday of every Month…..Ho hum…Great Episode!

@playhooky5 ай бұрын
Hello there fellow Sightseeing Sally follower, I live in Galesburg. You? And sadly in my opinion, our nearby Smithfield plant is the ONLY Non-Union one they operate. Corporate has the plant bosses tell the employees there that if they hear any talk of unionizing, they'll just close the plant.

After moving to So.Utah 35 years ago, I was told for good Chinese food I had to drive to Milford. So I loaded the wife and kids and off to Milford we went. Next day my friend ask how was it? My reply was nothing special! Then he said you ate at the wrong one. I coulden't believe him that there were two Chinese restaurants in Milford.😖

Be careful in those little mormon towns they don't like you and sister wives are a thing in southern Utah even today.
@EmmyHolm4 ай бұрын
What are you talking about, Milford loves visitors. Milford is actually a very welcoming town if you are kind to people. And Milford doesn’t have any “sister wives”. And even if they did, I’ve met sister wives in Utah, they won’t talk to you if you don’t talk to them. And they aren’t rude at all.
