While a am watching you on my iPad, I was blowing the dust…whahhaha 😂 you do not use pastelmat, is that for a reason? Expensive? Does they feel the same?

Hello, Juul. Thank you very much for reaching out and asking your question. I've used Pastelmat before, and for me the UART 600grit Dark Sanded Pastel Paper is my go to for several reasons. One, I love to have the ability to put down mulitiple layers easily. Two, it allows me to create the whimsical mark making with my pastel pencils. Three, it's very durable as it can take me making muliple changes with erasers, as I live to push and pull in my process. Four, it can take wet media. Those are just a few of the the things I love about the UART Paper. Yes, it feels like an extra fine sandpaper. I'm not sure if you have watched any of my live replays here on KZbin. I talk in them about my supplies and why I use them. I also share my creative process.

@@dawnvanderstoep_artist Hi, I just discovered you yesterday on You Tube. this was also because of your name, I thought you were Dutch...or do you have a Dutch partner? I have been drawing with soft pastels and pan pastels for years. I use them more as underpainting. I work on Pastelmat, I have also used watercolor pencils as underpainting (before I had pan pastels) and they also worked fine. it's just very expensive paper in the Netherlands. I am happy with your videos because I also want to try the tip of the cardboard and Grafix double-sided film and use that spacer instead of a passé partout. good luck with your beautiful works. very relaxing to watch.

Yes, my husband is Dutch ;) Yes, I've heard that some of the papers can be very expensive in other countries. I'm so happy you are enjoying the videos. I plan to release a framing video showing how I use the spacers soon. Mounting your paper sure can make life easier when working with this beautiful medium. I hope sometime you will be able to stop by and say hi during one of my live streams. Not sure if you would be awake during the time though. I wish you luck with your soft pastel journey too.
