Congratulations on your sponsorship! Additionally, I just saw you on ABC News today when they were talking about ways to save money. I don't know if you saw it yet but that's amazing that you are on the national news now talking about Dollar Tree dinners. I am very happy for you. I'm glad you're getting this recognition you deserve and I hope it opens more doors for you! Lisa in Las Vegas

Congratulations, Rebecca! Very cool sponsorship! 🎉🎉🎉Quick tip on grating the cheese. Remove the cheese from packaging and freeze for 15-20 min. Not frozen solid, but about half way. It won't stick to the grater, and will shred beautifully. Thanks for sharing. ❤

Oh, now we're going to be sold stuff every time we watch a video. Sigh. I know it's good for the video maker. But I am so burned out on that type of thing. It also then makes me wonder if people are doing YT because they want to, or because it's now a job.

Of course it’s a job. I can only imagine how long it takes to record the video, edit, and think of what to record. The influencers who enjoy what they are doing is apparent. Rebecca definitely enjoys what she’s doing! If you don’t want to watch the “commercial” then just fast forward through that portion. I just appreciate she take any time to help me save money and give me ideas for meals. Thanks Rebecca!

Hooray 🥳 Congrats on your well deserved sponsorship!! I’m so so pleased for you! I’ve had that exact mackerel from Dollar Tree and I just ate it plain. As a fatty protein source, you can’t beat it in value! Wild caught mackerel with bones (you can and should eat them bones!) with no chemicals! Amazing! You can make a sandwich filling or cracker dip with the mackerel (mashed), avocado, and whatever else you want to add.

The soft bones in mackerel, sardines & salmon add calcium to your diet & won't hurt you as long as you chew your food & don't inhale it.

Also you can definitely just use mayo in crab/fish cakes. I used to make both crab cakes and salmon croquettes at an old job. We just used mayo and panko bread crumbs as binders. The key is to preform the cakes and chill them before cooking. If they're still kind of crumbly they don't have enough mayo. We also dredged the salmon croquettes in a breadcrumb/crushed pistachio mixture before frying, and crabcakes were cooked on the flat top grill, not fried at all. Grilled crabcakes are surprisingly good!
@calihapamama2 сағат бұрын
Mackerel is definitely an oily fish. An alternate way to prepare that kind of mackerel would be to break it up like you did for the fish cakes and simmer it in teriyaki sauce or a sweetened soy sauce mixture until it’s heated through. Then you mix it into cooked rice.
@ramboschommerСағат бұрын
Soooooooo delicious this way!!!
@rosacanisalba3 сағат бұрын
The bones in that kind of mackerel or salmon have been softened by the processing. This means you can eat the bones with no fear. It also means that the calcium content is higher.

I buy the mackerel in a can which you do need to remove the spine. I mix homemade Parmesan bread crumbs, green peppers diced and red onions diced and some Old Bay seasoning mix and ground pepper with an egg or so to incorporate everything. Fry in Avocado oil til golden brown and they are delicious. They taste just like crab cakes.

Please make more peppermint chocolate desserts like.... The bones are in canned salmon and mackerel, my mom always used canned salmon and, that’s what, I use. But, my mom from time to time didn’t get all the bones out and, not good when, they get caught on your teeth! I won’t be buying salmon for quite sometime now, as they went back up to close to $4 a can! 13:49

I love the dollar tree $3-$5 section for my meat and the Kroger $5 packages of 10 chicken legs and 5 pork chops. It's just me so this gives me more of a variety of meat protein. I also enjoy the $1.25 cheese because I hardly use it. The qrts of milk are perfect.

oh my! I wish mine had that! it's just prepared food in the $3, $4, and $5 section for me. The only meats are the $5 packs of shrimp and salmon, which are super helpful though when you only need a little bit.

Congrats on your sponsorship! So well deserved. I wonder for icing the cake if it was frosted in white or the chocolate first, then heating the other two colors just a bit and swirling spoonfuls of it through the base color with a knife or a toothpick…? Maybe I’ll try it 😊

I loved all the ideas. I think you are right about the white icing. The red has so much food dye it probably stained the white to a pink. I like the idea though. I love all your fun ideas. Just a thought for upcoming content… what about themed dinners? Mexican, Italian, Chinese, pizza shop, warm and cozy (like a chicken pot pie?), seafood, etc. I love how creative you are and get so many good ideas from you.

A suggestion for the cake: spread white icing on one half of the cake and red icing on the other, then use a knife to swirl them together. I guess you could do this with all three icings too. No need to microwave the icings.
