Mike, that WA state court clip features Judge Bruce Hanify from the thriving metropolis of Forks, WA. Once you get out of Seattle we have a a lot of small towns interspersed with Tribal Lands and Judge Hanify’s Court certainly reflects the local culture. Thanks for the continued excellent content. Life lesson: if youre ever in a fight, dont choke someone at all. Choking probably could have varying success with submitting someone without an injury, but it is almost always assault in the first degree to obstruct someone's airway. If you have to fight, hopefully defending yourself or someone else, just swing. Punching someone is ofter a misdemeanor, while choking is almost always a felony.

Mike, I was saying right before you ended the stream. I found some brand new old stock of old school Hugo Boss stuff. I bought all of it because the one an only suit he had fit me like a glove! And for it being almost 20 years old, it's a nice ass suit! Loose where we need it and tight where it dont matter 😂. I also got a lot of colognes an watches an stuff that I really don't care about. I realize there is a correlation between poor mental health and criminality, but it still starts to sound tired when the only excuse for every defendant's behavior is "mental health issues." Some people might become belligerent because they have legitimate mental breaks but this guy strikes me as just having poor impulse control. When a child throws a tantrum you punish them, not apologize for them because they're children.

Watching this on Thursday, just a hint late. Sadly this came the same day local police were not found at fault for killing a 13 yo autistic boy in a mental crisis. I'm grateful to hear esp in a minority category and a judge openly talking about how the system fails them. I have an adult son on the spectrum who is succeeding, but truthfully I think it's in part that he's white. We were privileged to getting everything he needed.

The first clip bugs me a little, the pumpkin spice thing. It just seems wrong. I get that this is their job and they are people and they joke around. The issue I have is that they have a man there, in a humiliating situation, in humiliating clothing, about to have another human decide whether he will be treated like a human or locked in a cage like an animal for the near future ... and their joking about something so banal. All while he is forced to stand there, and wait even longer to hear his fate. I don't know, it just went a little too far for my tastes. It just seems like an added indignity. Yes, I'm aware that statistically, he is most likely guilty of whatever, but we're supposed to assume the opposite.

I know this is not popular but Judge Vann's clips are my least favourite. It's just him bantering with colleagues, that's not exactly "law stuff" if I wanted to watch genial workplace banter I'd go to work. Coming back to you observation the one positive I can say is that of I had to listen to a judge prior to my sentence I'd want him to be in a good mood.

If I were picking up my dry cleaning, it would be unprofessional for them to be joking among themselves while I have to stand there waiting. But of course I could complain or take my business elsewhere. It would be torture if I was ripped out of my life, cuffed, detained, deprived of my civil rights, have no idea what is happening, have no idea when I would be a free man again, I'm finally going to get some answers, and these people are yuck ing it up like their at a backyard BBQ. This guy can't complain, he is a captive audience. I get it - he has a tough and thankless job. I get that this is just a Tuesday for him, but it is the prisoner's life. I don't mind a little joking, but I think he takes it a bit too far. I wish he recognized the solemnity of what he was doing. I think he does a swell job, I just think he has more more of a lax attitude than most of the baristas I've met. Some time's it's painful to watch. Save the yuck fest for your break. So e judges manage humor better (e.g., Judge Simpson), and I like this guy, I just think sometimes he's a little flippant about what is happening.

Ok, I'll be a stick in the mud - I did not like what Judge Vann said. I've faced a lot of discrimination as a woman attorney and this makes me think that in the over 40 years that I have practiced law, not much has changed in that regard.
