Aty: A little boy otter who came to our house at the age of 9 months.
At first he couldn't even swim in the river, but now he loves the river more than anything else and swims in it all year round.
Whenever we go out, he always walks ahead of everyone, so he has come to be called “Captain Aty”.
Ui: A tomboy with comical movements.
Because of her ferocious nature, she had to go from one owner to another.
At first, she was so ferocious that Aty was too frightened to even touch her.
But Ui opened up to us and now she and Aty make out every day.
Aty and Ui have been issued a certificate of registration as an internationally rare wild animal and plant species.
Although Ui may appear calm today, she used to be so ferocious that people could not approach her.
After more than a year of being bitten, she finally came to live with us.
Otters are very intelligent and watch the people around them very carefully.
They will never open their hearts to you if you only have a superficial relationship with them.
They are also very active animals and require several hours of exercise per day.
They need to be walked outside or swam in the river for two to three hours every day.
The amount of exercise they get inside the house will never be enough to satisfy their needs.
Please do your research on otters before you think that “I want to keep one."
You need to think carefully about whether you can face them with your life.

Oh, poor Aty! Before long he was formulating a plan: he would put on his winter coat and go and look for his girl! He is truly smart as well as caring. I wish I could reassure him and cuddle him until Ui is home! Lady Ui is such a brave girl. It's really good to see her in the pool again :) It's such a relief - thank you for keeping us updated

Seriously! It says a lot about otter intelligence that he got into the basket and pulled out the EXACT item he wears to take a walk during cold weather… He knew what he was doing, but sadly for him it wasn't enough and he had to wait. Fortunately Otterman and a healed-enough Ui-chan came back soon enough. And yes, Mr. Cat once again used his Buddha Powers to radiate calm around the very agitated Captain 😅

I really hate seeing Aty in such distress because we all know how thoughtful and caring he is of others (when Otterman broke his leg, Aty KNEW there was something wrong and he was so scared he peed himself, bless him). He’s such a loving soul. So while this video is heartbreakingly cute, it’s also just plain ‘ol heartbreaking. Though it’s worth watching, to see his emotions and how much he misses his master and his bride, and to see the reunion at the end. It makes the old heart glow!

Yep. I've been personal witness to mastocytoma removal (15yrs ago in my ancient dog, now deceased), and while I had no issues with the massive growths on her back they decided to remove, the problem tumor on her foot was a different story -- despite my best efforts she managed to rip the stitches… I'm glad that didn't happen with Ui-chan.

Aty's sorrowful cries broke my heart! 😢💔 He REALLY wanted Otterman to take him to the vet so he could be with Ui, and his angry voice was very forceful - but to no avail. Glad Ui came through having her stitches taken out with no complications. And what a lovely reunion, complete with a fishy treat!😊 Swimming in the pool will help Ui's rehabilitation, and I'm sure they'll both be overjoyed to play in the river again ... and so will we!❤❤

@@Kotaro1326 We've talked about this before… Kotaro is practically a case study of asexuality in otters -- he will never mate with Hana, much to her irritation. But with Aty/Ui, the spark is clearly there -- it just hasn't led to anything yet. Compare to Otsuyu of LOUTRE… it feels like Oage just *_looks_* at her and she gets knocked up. If Aty's & Ui's heat/rut cycles ever sync (and Otterman gives them privacy), I think there will be "Utys".

I am so happy Ui healed well and is getting better. Everybody pray for her well-being. I love these little guys 🦦🦦❤. Otters are my favorite animals. Otterman is a true friend of the otters and by now I am sure thinks like an otter. The scientists should be interviewing Otterman on otter psychology.

His beeping for Otterman and Ui-chan tells me how close Aty is to his family. The pulling out of his coat shows me just how smart he is! (He is super cute in his puffy coat.) I think Aty still remembers Otterman's stay at the hospital. There was a little short video showing Aty calling out for Otterman that melted my heart. I am glad that things are improving with Ui-chan.

I have three cats. It's extra work but when one has to go to the veterinarian or anywhere, they all go together. It works out well, nobody feels left out, or harassed when coming home. Fear has a smell, and our pets know when it's around.

Aty seems to know the human language. I remember when Otterman reunited with Aty after his breaking his ankle and commented on Aty's weight gain. Aty was not happy about it.

We've seen from Otterman, Loutre, and Kotsumet that otters can understand human language to some degree -- certainly they know the names their keepers give them and other clan-otters. Beyond that who knows. Aty and Otterman have a very deep bond, so I'll bet Aty understands Otterman's dismissive tone of voice even if he can't quite know the words. 😅
