A GALAXY... Made Of CAKE | Fault Line Cake | How To Cake It with Yolanda Gampp

To make my Galaxy Mega Cake, I began by caking 10lbs of my Ultimate Vanilla Cake but dyed each a marbled bright colour. This cake is coated in a black chocolate ganache yet, the inner bright colours are matched by the featured fault line that exposed the colourful sprinkles. The cake is decorated in planets then topped off with a sparkling rocket ship.

Did you know that it rains diamonds on Jupiter and Saturn? Also, If the sun was the size of a door, Jupiter would be the size of a basketball, and Earth would be the size of a crumb. I remember having to do a project on Jupiter about 6 years ago, so I have many fun facts lingering in my brain.

I think of Pluto’s “demotion” as a positive, now that it’s a dwarf planet instead other dwarf planets get more recognition. How many people had heard of Ceres back when Pluto was the 9th planet? Not to mention the other 3 we’ve recently discovered that most people haven’t even heard of.

Pluto was demoted to dwarf planet when I was in 3rd grade. I remember it so well, cause we had learned a rhyme to remember the planets and their order the year before, and then the teacher had to think of how to revise the rhyme so it would still work without Pluto at the end. they didn't manage to think of a nice rhyme tho

The "rocket" mold was actually a space shuttle mold 😄 shuttles are flat at the bottom like airplanes because they are designed to land after coming back. To take off they are strapped to giant round rockets. so gluing it together wasn't really the perfect way to depict it. still looked super cool tho!
