I think it's a great progress, but there already international providers out there where you don't need to exchange BTC for USD. The card automatically charges your BTC on the current price.

This is very interesting, I'm an ICP Maxi, they created ckBTC, I've been looking at Argentina & El Salvador, however I am considering running a node with ICP, I need a tier 3 data center, not sure if there's one in El Salvador, but there is some in Argentina. Also kWh is lower in these countries, if I want to mine some crypto. Any thoughts on this? I can gain residency in El Salvador in under 2 yrs, moving from U.S. parents from Mexican origins.

We had ours within 2 days; we live on the beach. They use a courier company; everyone we know who has the card received it within 2 days or less.

Agree about 2 days or less. I saw this video on Sunday afternoon. Setup the app on Monday, requested physical card on tuesday afternoon and got it on thursday morning. I live in Santa Tecla.

It's a pre-paid Mastercard powered by Bitcoin/stablecoins. As it is custodial (DitoBanx holds your funds), it's for spending and not for saving. For saving, a self-custodial solution is the way to go. For the time being, it is only available to Salvadoran citizens and residents. DitoBanx has plans to expand its offering further into Latin America.

While other countries are closing off the ramps to and from Bitcoin, DitoBanx is building new and better ones in El Salvador. Edit: just today, a new feature was added. It is converted to a USD stablecoin (USDC and soon USDT) before being added to the card. Due to this, its value depreciates over time, in tandem with inflation. Good for day to day spenindg, bad for long term saving. For that, Bitcoin is used because Bitcoin doesn't have inflation and will thereby trend up in value over time.

You're right. Unfortunately, most people still perceive the value of Bitcoin in dollar terms. It is this way because most people still see dollars as real money and Bitcoin as some kind of tech stock. The challenge is in breaking that spell. We all grew up with fiat monopoly money as "real money", and so it's a difficult misperception to overcome. But, the truth is the truth, and the truth always wins out in the end.

KYC is required for this type of service to legally operate. This product is aimed at the 70% of the population who have never had a bank account and need a simple solution which enables them enter the broader economy. Ideally we would be rid of KYC altogether, but we don't all have the luxury of being non-KYC purists. If it's a choice between a KYC'd bridge into Bitcoin for 4 million financially excluded people, or no access or opportunity for those people at all, the former option is surely preferable.

Wrong, Bitcoin makes sence everywhere. financial freedon is essential, and fiat on long term destroys all saving, in Canada for example the truckers protesting were boycotted financially and Bitcoin was there to rescue them, CBDC are comming and Bitcoin will be there to rescue the people, there is absolutetely no country where Bitcoin is not needed. Bitcoin is needed in all the world mostly for 2 reasons, to combat inflation and to escape financial represion.

There's quite a few Australians here. Probably the second largest expat community after the Canadians. If you're resourceful, and tenacious, you can start a new life here with very little.
