One thing I found annoying now that I read the first book, is just how the show deviates from the book in unnecessary scenes, even though the first season is praised for following the first book closely. I understand cuts, and changes etc have to be made, but changes were made that changed characters completely. Like the scene where Jamie and his knights attack Ned and his few guards. First off, there are more guards in the books than in the show (which is significant because Ned + his guards kill 5 Lannisters, while they only 3 really showing the kind of fighter Ned is), but that’s a minor point. What irks me is that in the show they have this 1v1 and portray Jamie as some kind of honorable man who fights fairly (Jamie even stabs one of his guard for supposedly interfering with him and Ned) . In the books Jamie is not honorable and would have easily killed Ned using his overwhelming numbers, he only doesn’t because Ned tells him then Tyrion would be killed. This change was made for absolutely no reason. There are so many other problems, but this bothered me so much.

It's been so long since I saw the first season, so I really don't remember. I thought it was pretty close as well. I know a lot changed as the books go on though. I have no idea why they made those particular changes, good eye!

I really want to review this book. That thing you said about reading different types of things at different speeds. That was relatable. I also fly through over described scenes. Steamy scenes are definitely not my thing. They cringe me everywhere.

A Song Of Books And Readers you should! I can't wait to go through them all, but I'm sure it'll take me a bit haha. And yes! Different parts at different speeds is ideal!

Loved this! I just finished reading the first one and i loved it so much! Dont think i ever read a book that thick but i could go on and on reading, i enjoyed it so much. So often in your review i found myself laughing cause i felt exactly the same about the characters. I look forward to getting into the second one. Are you going to continue reading them and reviewing the books?

Cathleen is plain boring and Sansa is annoying to a fault but I think their characters have a nice arc. Hopefully they will be a lot of fun in the unpublished books in the series.
