Well said And i too first read this book/series at a low point (maybe the lowest), it let me escape when I needed to most, and also left me with little nuggets of wisdom & courage like from this scene. I will be forever grateful to George for that 😁

I want to say that it was specifically this video, the emotion in your voice, that made me break down and finally read the first book. I was convinced for a long time that I would haaaate the actual text of these books but I decided I could try the first one. I still don't exactly love the books but I am not sorry that I read it and I listened to the prologue twice.

If you want to try the audiobooks, there's some channels on KZbin that have them uploaded. My personal favorites are Last Seen Ahorse and DavidReadsASoIaF. Last Seen Ahorse has playlists for the books and ones for the individual characters, which I really like.

A lot of show watchers don't realize that Waymar is Bronze Yohn Royce of the Vale's youngest son. When he (Bronze) mentions his son is missing/searching for his son, Waymar is the son he is referring to.

Its important because we have to know what's coming. Not even soon anymore because it's here already. And Waymar shows the nobility's blindness to the danger. The real problem is north but the kings are busy figtjing each other. As Osha says, "these swords should be going North, not South."

I, too, really love the complexities that George RR Martin creates and highlights with his characters which is also why I despite the R + L = J theory. I like/want Jon to be Ned’s child because it shows how even the honorable Ned Stark has his flaws and still tries to do what he feels is right in spite of it. Also props to the casting director because (I think) that guy bears some physical resemblance to the Lord Royce we later meet in the Vale.

This is exactly why I enjoy your content so much! I've said it before, and I know it'll be lost in the chatter, and I'm perfectly happy with that, but you just get it. Your joy and love for the books is not only reflecting my own but your understanding of the message and the way it moves you is so refreshing! After years and years of people focusing on the show, which misses the points and themes of the story so much.. it's just nice to see someone with the same enthusiasm as I felt when I first read them Have I been waiting for over a decade for the next installment? Yes. Will I continue to wait? Yes. Will I still love and enjoy whats there ? Yes. And thanks to people like you I get to enjoy it second hand all over again❤❤

I actually like ser Waymar. He was very brave and in normal circumstances all his actions and orders made sense. But it was not normal circumstances. Nobody believes in gremkins and snarks, it's not his fault to not believe in the Others or whatever.

I just discovered your videos on the weekend, and I love your takes. YES, this is why the prologue to GOT is one of the best openings to any fantasy novel I've ever read. This is why GRRM is a master of what he does. I had no idea that you were so new to the series, because your analyses are always so spot on and so well thought out - very much the same stuff I'd be saying as a fan of 20 yrs! Bravo!

I watched a reactor seeing this opening scene and they said “these must be the main characters”. I hope they didn’t get to attached to them.

My personal Theory is that the others specifically targeted sir waymar. The way it plays out is that the others seemed almost wary of him, and they didn't do away with him until his sword broke at which point they seemed to realize that he was not whoever they seem to be looking for. I do believe they are looking for someone specific. Funny enough, and the very next chapter John is described in the exact same imagery as waymar. Slender graceful gray-eyed with black hair. This is total conjecture and I don't have hard evidence for this, but it seems to me that the similarities between John and waymar were intentional, and I personally believe that the others are specifically looking for John for whatever reason

…. I recognize that this isn’t the same as the opening prologue but what are your thoughts on Tyrion Lannisters mountain men? Ride or die for the “half-man” & I don’t hear enough about them.

Is term white walkers is different from others? Or is it just synonym
@rhanialam17 күн бұрын
it’s just a synonym! the books primarily refer to them as the others, but they’re called white walkers a couple times
