It's all well and good having a team full of attacking players that love getting forward, including your full backs and centre backs. But you have to respect the defensive side of the game and the effort needed to stop your opponent. It feels like Ange's belief that we will score 1 more than you is infecting the players minds, because off the ball they look disinterested. Johnson and Porro for the first goal make almost zero effort to work together and stop the danger before it even gets to Udogie to miss hit his clearance. Everyone outside the club can see it, in the media, opposition teams and their fans...SPURS ARE EASY TO PLAY AGAINST. The team is just too soft and doesn't make games hard and uncomfortable for the opposition. That's on Ange and his ridiculous obsession for just attacking and a total disregard for the defensive side of the ball. Goodbye Ange, you are done here.

Sorry Barnaby, it has been the same under Mourinho, Nuno and Conte. Our players can’t play under pressure, it has always been like that. As soon as something goes against us we crumble, even when United lost a 2-0 lead and went one man down, they tried their best to get back into the game and it paid off. We crumbled, who went for the rebound for Udogie’s shot? No one! Whether they would’ve gotten there or not, show some ambition to win!
@carlosmorales-r3k2 ай бұрын
Good to see Barnaby being fair here, the game management is always abysmal, we were lucky on Thursday night not to concede more. Trophy winning sides don’t give away a 2-0 leads to Brighton!
@duyetpham20032 ай бұрын
Trophy winning sides, especially a Big Six btw, don't give 2 - 0 leads to mid table teams like Brighton, or get destroyed 3 - 0 to Fulham last season, or lose 4 - 0 to an injury ridden Newcastle at St. James Park last season as well. In short, we are tarnishing that Big Six status alongside Man United sitting 9th at a possible 6th place minimum finish this week.
@azzyinthebrambles56492 ай бұрын
Look how Brighton understood the idea of getting solid when they got the lead. Still attacked, but got in shape, got solid. Whether we can't do it or have no interest in doing it, it's simple: defensively it's a mess and it costs us again and again. We conceeded and the energy changed, but we just carried on and they tore through us for two more. Ange seems to see all this as just part of football. No attention paid to entire parts of the strategy of the game. Ridiculous.
@thecountofmontecristo82802 ай бұрын
It's not just about shape though, it's about what the players do within that shape. If you want to close down your opponent, you have to show the desire to do that. When you are a little bit tired it is easy to just jog towards the opponent which is akin to doing nothing. Defending starts at the front, but Johnson is so poor at providing any defensive cover or willingness to close down and get back into position - not when he feels like it, but every single time or get off the field. The worst part is Porro is probably the weakest of the fullbacks so he needs the most help, yet he gets none from Johnson and Bentancur is hardly gifted with the kind of ability where he can cover ground quickly and help. The entire team is just too geared towards attacking that it makes it so soft and vulnerable under pressure - minimal pressure. There is simply no balance in the team. If you keep signing and playing players that only want to attack then you make yourself vulnerable defensively. That is what I see from Ange's teams. He has no understanding of balance. Picking ultra offensive full backs along with zero real defensive midfielders and attacking wide players that don't really track back with effort and determination to shut the opposition down is perhaps okay at home against weaker opponents. But away, that is a recipe for disaster. The only reason it looks okay is because Brighton started slow and went down 2 goals. What if they'd started the way they finished the game? Imagine the reactions if it read Brighton 3-0. Eventually everyone is going to wake up to the reality to Levy simply jerked from ultra defensive to ultra offensive. He's like a f*cking bipolar girlfriend running a football club. Find a manager who can bring balance.
@duyetpham20032 ай бұрын
Honestly that's what set other teams even mid table ones like Fulham, West Ham and Brighton from us. They have qualities with tanks at the go for both halves. We on the other hand, lack that deeply from them. Praise me January can't come any quicker...we need reinforcements, again, like we always do. So far, we've signed 3 young players and a backup CB who can't even scrape a hell of a minute from being off the bench and on the pitch. And our current setup, pardon my negativity and finger pointing but Cuti shouldn't be captain in the first place. Son should have been if he was there if not, let Vicario be captain. He has that high responsibility and energy to command his box even if it's just for defense. Cuti let off his foot on the gas 2 nil up and the whole team just look at him and go: "eh, why not?".

Welbeck missed a sitter but scored the winner from the same position, he positions at the centre of our goal, our two central defenders looking like his wingmen. i don't go along with the septic view this player or that player is no good. All our players are at a standard, including Werner, there are few matches we have lost in the last 18 months when we have played badly so how do we lose, even when we were two up Brighton remained resolute we hadn't broken them, we lose because the system is flawed and good teams know how to exploit the flaw . Even at 2-2 did we get back and form a better defensive structure . No we don't do that,. we lose winning and that seems OK for the manager. What do they do in training? .....as for Werner? HOW does he start a game? How has he not scored a goal at all this season, with all the chances that has come his way.... To be fair ANGE has to shoulder FULL blame. High pressing game REQUIRES extreme stamina however, you have FIVE, 5, subs USE THEM. Thus we are able to maintain this philosophy of Ange, High press.....There is NO 'one way' to win, the game is always fluid and therefore you must have ALTERNATIVE plans to TRY to win games.
