​@@CarpeNutellain cities like New York they don't have the space to have trucks that collect trash cans. So they're just put in bags on the side of the street. Other places you have metal garbage cans that are collected by hand, and some places they have things like this. This one is called the side loader.

My nephew loved garbage trucks & firetrucks. I would take him to the (volunteer) firehouse in town to peek @ the trucks & he thought I was the best aunt ever! If we saw a garbage truck we had to stop & observe 💜 He's 33 now, great memories!🎉

To be honest, during the latter part of the 2020 Iockdown, I started looking forward to trash days just so I could watch the trucks do their thing. My WFH setup had a great view of trash pick up and all the little birds I never noticed before. I've kept up with keeping feed out for the birds throughout the years, and if I hear the trash truck coming down the road...I still stop and watch it.

I always loved how kind the garbage collectors were to the little kids who loved to watch. My son stood out in the cold for 20-30 minutes once to give them treats for Christmas. He wanted to get ALL of them (we used to have several companies come through the neighborhood) when he got the other trucks to stop they'd say "We're not your trash collectors." he just said "I know." and handed them treats.

It had to do with you trying on wedding dresses and figuring out that you actually did want to have a wedding dress. and then discovering that you had found the wedding dress. OMG ELYSE. I 100000% feel this. I have four kids and my first two boys were OBSESSED. Like obsessed with garbage trucks.. we sat there every Wed morning waiting for the damn garbage truck and some days they were late!!! Aww!! My oldest son is 16, but when he was a toddler, he was obsessed with the garbage truck. He used to run onto the porch and wave and yell, "Thank you, garbage man!!" When he was about 4, we moved to a new neighborhood and had an exceptional garbage man. We painted him a sign with huge, colorful letters that said, "Thank you!" The morning of pick up day, we popped that baby in the window and waited until he heard the truck coming to run to the window to wave. Thank you for the reminder!!

Basically a partially flattened out gear, and a hydraulically powered gear on the bin handler head that rides up and down the "ladder" while wheels run on the side rails. It's nice because it lifts vertically, a lot of them are on arms that swing out as they go up, so this fits into tight spaces better, and also is less likely to spill trash.
