I was taught in drivers training to use your rear view mirror (not side mirrors). Then when you can see both of the headlights of the vehicle that you passed it's safe to move back into that lane, of coarse it depends on what kind of vehicle that you are driving.

Yáll are so funny and so enjoyable to watch and be with for that little bit of time. I am so like you, I just love the being on the road seeing the sights and new places. I was never happier than having the car packed and pointing it's nose down the road and driving, and for me, to be able to do it with your whole house pulling along behind ya is just the most wonderful thing in the world. Anyway it is Sabbath now and I need to cut it short. Continued safe travels til I can visit with you on channel next week, and have a happy Thanksgiving filled with blessings and gratitude. Hello Sondra and David I too love taking pictures especially old buildings so if you have never been a must see destination for you two would be Bodie, Ca . A special place for photography. We live on a cattle ranch just outside Yosemite National Park our family has been on this land 104 years.. Grandma and Grandpa were rangers in Yosemite in the 1940's to the 1970's and Grandma was best friends with Ansel Adams. Love watching your travels ❤

As far as when to merge into a lane when passing, you two were a little off. 😊 At 78 years old , and decades of driving, the correct way to merge is to use your rear view mirror in cars/vehicles you can see through the back windows, it to see BOTH headlights and then merge. This gives plenty of space and especially with big trucks allows for comfort for them. #drivertraining101 😊

It's pin-ALL county. Emphasis on the second syllable. First syllable sounds like pin, as in "pin the tail on a donkey." I grew up in Arizona and I've also heard it pronounced pee-NAL, with NAL sounding like AL in Albert. 😄 BTW, I hate when we pull our trailer through a parking lot. All those curbs to avoid.

@scottmichaels12
@scottmichaels12 Ай бұрын
Pecans originated in Mexico and central and eastern North America, therefore the way "southerners" pronounce "Pecan" is kind of irrelevant. Because I'm from Oklahoma, I know you're trying to say that "southerns" pronounce it Pee-can, but your explanation is lacking. Either way, the accepted pronunciation is Puh-kaan. "Southerners" are pronouncing it wrong. There are A LOT of words in the English language that are mispronounced by "southerners". Therefore Dave and Sondra's pronunciation of "Pecan" is not only just fine, it's also the universally accepted pronunciation.

What interests you? During Commercial Flight Training in Houston, Texas, I had an apartment there by Hobby Field. Having to get away from tedious flight training, I began to wander around Johnson Space Center and take in the exhibits and interactive displays. Curious, studying the Apollo launch systems of the Saturn 5 that would blast from Earth with its Apollo Capsule etc. I became fairly familiar with all of it from a pilot's perspective. Then one I was strolling past the Apollo Capsule etc and Saturn V assembled and laid in horizontal display. From the rear, the engines seemed impossibly huge, moving further the long tanks that would be filled with 100's tons of liquid oxygen & fuel gave way to the Capsule. My mind raced thinking of all the systems and how they were controlled & operated. It was then I realized that, if need be, its pilot could control and fly it very much like a powerful jet. A little beyond my pay grade, but I did manage to, with very little training grease a Shuttle landing on one of their simulators. I' m still amazed as I was leaving.to see the people that had come to the doors of their offices to see the novice that pulled it off.

@@bigtruckbigtravels not a preachy bone in your bodies and all with a touch of humor. I would love if there were more people like you. But, the other side of me worries about people who sell everything for the open road. To find out, vacations are way better. You carry a real home with you, size wise. Workable, perfect size, every convenience possible. PLUS A BRILLIANT cook who makes wonderful meals. One other thing you two have on your side, is your ability to figure out what’s wrong, order the part and do the repair yourself. Any repairs on ANYTHING nowadays are big big bucks. 😊

My grandparents had a pecan orchard when I was young. They’d harvest them from the trees by using a long cane pole and knocking them out of the outer shells when ready and we’d pick them up off the ground and put them in mesh bags. I spent several seasons helping them remove the shells from the pecans which they’d then sell to local markets. Grandma made the best pecan pies at Thanksgiving 😋

Yay for the campground escort and his Sondra approved hand signals! Pecan trees were cool. I've never seen one either. Ok, Mickey, sit on the seat and put your seat belt on, and Minnie is tired and taking a nap again. Lol. There are so many things out west that we don't have here on the east coast. 28° in New Mexico? I didn't think that happened. The ghost town looks awesome...love seeing historical stuff. You had that whole rest stop to yourself. 😆 no, it didn't. We were on a high plains plateau. From there to El Paso it was a very slight downhill. Great fuel mileage!

The burned trailer there at the end is consistent with a tire fire. Overheated hubs, dragging brakes, or underinflated tires can all cause the tire to catch fire. And I won't get started on the suicidal 4-wheelers who think that a foot is enough distance...

@bigtruckbigtravels - Not retired yet, we are usually on our way home (back to work) from 3-months of boondocking in the southern Arizona and California deserts, where we enjoy spending winters most. Only once, in 2017, did we detour south to visit San Antonio, Corpus Christie, and Houston on the way home...hence my original comment.

Did you say in a previous video why you went to Mexico for Sondra’s Dental work? I saw in the previous video that there were a lot of Dental places. Is it a lot cheaper there?

Hi from Yuma.. just F Y I ..i gave watched several of your videos boon docking and going to Los Algodones..there's RV and truck parking at the Casino when you get off the interstate to go into Algodones..actually they have a small ne RV park at the end of the road when you get to Algodones.. not sure how hard the parking would be for your big rig in there.. but plenty of room at the casino for you..and closer and safer than boon docking out there..enjoy your videos..

Thanks. We've stayed at the Q casino before and actually rode our bikes into Mexico. The RV park is open but a bit pricey at $55/night. Definitely convenient though.

I thought you were getting rid of your membership only page and videos? I saw a video posted 3 days ago about a chat on the beach but thought I recall you both saying you were not continuing with the membership platform so a little confused on recent video for members only.
@bigtruckbigtravels
@bigtruckbigtravels Ай бұрын
Yes, you remembered correctly. We planned to stop it and during the "final" Live Chat we told everyone it would be the last. Everybody wanted it to continue and said "once a month is fine" or we don't need additional content, just once a month with Live Chats. We were overwhelmed by the sincere response we received and didn't have the heart to discontinue it. So, we make no mention of it in our video's and continue the channel unchanged from before. If Memberships die then so be it. We won't try to grow it but everyone really enjoys the Chats so that continues. Our intention was to stop it but our viewers were totally against it. We didn't expect that response. Also, memberships was a way to protect us from spammers since it offers another layer of security. Hope this helps clarify it. Thanks for watching the channel.

Well, just to give you another pronunciation of Pinal. The Pinal County in AZ is pronounced "Pin" + Al (as in a gentleman's name). The traffic unit in the Sherif's office in Pinal County has a great KZbin channel as well. It speaks well of you that you did not know how to pronounce it as that means you did not get pulled over for speeding in the county😁
