I have been feeding my jays for four years now. Only one comes to me to take peanuts. Others are waiting in a tree for me to get lost lol. They would often unload grains from their pouches to fill in on peanuts. I love my jays.

You provide and extend life for the jays and the chipmunks. The nuts and seeds provide necessary protein and micro nutrients and oils. I live where people use mulch everywhere! It smothers the soil and thus access to soft body insects for birds to feed their young, smothers fireflies that live in the soil much of the year and can no longer survive and that is before the chemicals. So watching the chipmunks and the jays is a pleasure and joy for me.

I collect bird feathers from my yard. Blue jays, cardinals, doves, turkeys to name a few. I know they drop them naturally but it really does feel like a gift 😅

I put out a water dish for the chipmunks. The birds though take a bath in it before the chipmunks arrive for breakfast. I think the look on the chipmunks' faces says why does this water taste like bird butt?
