I thought the pilots would pour water on the control panel and then the electricity would maybe power the front of the plane, allowing the pilots to turn on the power on the rest of the plane temporarily and be able to contact air control for what to do. -that’s definitely how electricity works-

as an certified aircraft mechanic in the US. i find this to be pretty amazing. and by that i mean how they had control over flight. in smaller planes the pilot moves the stick which is connected to the flight controls normally by cables and in much rarer cases by rods. but in larger planes this is impossible as a human simply cannot move something like the rudder of a 747 with its massive surface area into the airstream at 400 mph. it has to be assisted, and this is normally done with power operated hydraulics, and like the flaps in this video and if the RAT (ram air turbine, aka the emegency power generator) failed.. they plane must have been fairly small, no bigger than a regional jet, if they were using cables to control the flight controls. granted i dont know how they do things in russia. but i do know that once a plance reaches a certain size and the flight control get to a certain size .. u can no longer use human power to hold a flight control in place

I am a GA pilot and love flying, but if I have the time to spare, I love traveling by train, there is so much beautiful country to see. I used to love cruises but not so much now, the ocean can get boring but there is plenty on board to do, however, with the huge liners and way too many people on them now, disembarking and trying to get away from the boat crowd at ports can be difficult. I took a train from California to Washington State once a few years back, and I had a nice berth and could get "room service" to it, but also went to the club car, the dining car and the exploration car for great all-around views! I traveled on the train with my brother from California to New York when I was in my late teens and it was great but sleeping in a reclining seat was a bit difficult, but we had some exciting stops. If I'm not flying myself somewhere and have the time, I would prefer going by train! I don't particularly like long car trips, but of course, that can depend on where you're going and what there is to see along your route, and how often you stop.
