Third method: set x = f(y), thus f(0) = 1 - f(y) - y. Setting y = 0 gives f(0) = 1/2. Done!

f(x) = (1-2x)/2 by trial and error. Tried fx) = 2 - x Result was 4 - x - y Tried f(x) = 1 - x Result was 2 - x - y Tried f(x) = -x Result was -x -y Tried f(x) = 1/2 -x Result is 1 -x -y

Setting y=0 f(x-f(0))=1-x let u=x-f(0) so x=u+f(0) => f(u)=1-u-f(0) Set u=0 2f(0)=1 So f(x)= 1/2-x Verification f(x-f(y))=f(x+y-1/2)=1/2-x-y+1/2=1-x-y
