This film, about Lord Selkirk Park (LSP), a public housing initiative in Winnipeg's North End, explores the successful renewal of this inner city community "from within".
In the 1967, LSP was created, and by the 1990s had became "housing of last resort" for its many Indigenous residents who lived in a concentrated and racialized form of poverty.
The neighbourhood was stigmatized, plagued by problems, and yet it turned out that these issues were not a result of public housing itself.
To overcome these issues, various community leaders, academics and government partners began a revitalization process, and have demonstrated that public housing can be a "Good Place to Live".
Directed by Ian Mauro and Jim Silver - from the University of Winnipeg - this film engages community members about their experiences transforming LSP and their very lives in the process.
