Or they answer a question by making a guess (which is what the gentlelady was asking for) then that guess is used as a weapon for ever more. Ms Young was trying to make clear - there isn't a number to give because they don't know the rate of GDP yet. So not stupidity - these people are genuinely at the top of their profession - it's protection from right-wing spin.

The reason being that wealth inequality is so appallingly skewed that wealth is concentrated in a very small sub-strata, and the system, allows them to game the system in their favour to evade tax. What is actually being asked for is that the wealthy pay a %age similar to those who earn regular money, and then a bit more. the fact they earn massive amounts compared to the average is a reflection of the inadequacy of the system to balance financial equality. This is why theyir relative contribution by %age looks so high. Their relative contribution in terms of their earnings isn't given what one needs to live comfortably.

@sprky777
@sprky777 Жыл бұрын
The answer is actually complex, not a number. You could tax the top 1% 100% of their income and hardly make a dent covering the national budget. The root of the problem is loopholes and exemptions. For example, for one year Elon Musk paid $22 Billion in taxes. He doesn't pay that much every year due to exemptions. Fair enough. But that is more from one man than the lower 10% combined. Yet he only has available the same rights and privileges as any other American. Is that fair?

She may have been trying to do exactly that. The question was: "What is the number _[i.e. percentage of all income tax revenue]_ that the wealthy and corporations would have to pay, for you and this administration to feel like they'd paid their fair share. Is it (and I'm asking for a numeric number) is it 78, 92, 104 ...?" Maybe the answer would be: "We aren't interested in that number. We are interested in what percentage of the wealth received by each individual or corporation ends up contributing to government. If somebody receives $100 million in a tax year and contributes 8% of that to government, while somebody who receives $100,000 in the same tax year contributes 16% of that much smaller amount, maybe there's an issue we need to fix."

Other than Social Security every single program in this country needs to be looked at reassessed cut back and these people need to be made to get out in the workforce. There are plenty of jobs in this country more than any other country in the world we just have a bunch of lazy people that want to live off of a system. Create babies and I get more money. This is what is driving people out of this country I am myself I’m leaving this country. Yes I will still have to pay taxes but that is why my citizenship is on the chopping block right now I’m debating whether to keep it or give it up. We are in a capitalist Country yeah we have more freeloaders in this country than any country in the world it’s pathetic they are coddled in babied ,,, start cutting these programs that is the simple answer to all of this restructure the tax system so that is fair to everyone that pays into it I don’t care if you’re a millionaire or a billionaire whatever percentage you pay is the percentage everyone else to pay. If you are a millionaire and you are paying 10% and someone else makes $400,000 and they’re paying 10% guess what that’s called equal folks I don’t care how much money you make you are paying the same percentage of taxes. Therefore our government cannot go on drunken sailor‘s spending spree‘s and create stupid ideas to spend our money like a 3.2 mile walking track or Trail in the name of Michael Obama. This is the kind of garbage that the American people that actually pay taxes are paying for. We have corruption in our government and it needs to stop. Why is there an assumption that this time nobody will be willing to take their place? Or that their market share wouldnt get spread amongst other functioning businesses? Also, the foundational issue here is that this small percentage makes up that quantity to begin with. Vaporizing antitrust laws, bailouts, and "too big to fail" rhetoric is only worsening the issue as we have seen for the past many years. The collusion allowing them to act with impunity escalates year. Example: the largest restaurants in this country fight wage laws with a voracity that borders on insanity, citing the job losses the community would have if they lost their local chain restaurants. If billion dollar entities exist on margins so razor thin that a wage hike(one of the only businesses who is NOT required to even pay minimum wage to EVERY employee) would destroy the company, please tell me why we shouldnt let that burn? And while i have you, if you were so fiscally ignorant, you had millions in an uninsured account, how is that not your risk?

No matter how much you tax a large corporation it will NEVER pay its "fair share" because all it does is hand off its tax liabilities to its customers, its employees and its share holders. Who decides who will be invited to speak before Congress and are these people chosen based on their knowledge of whatever subject Congress has scheduled to discuss that day? I ask because I watch these videos and no one EVER seems to answer what sounds like a reasonable, common sense question. Yet we keep doing the same thing, expecting different results. I love the Matt Gaetz approach which is to simply ask ALL the people before him on a given day, he simply asks the group as a whole if anyone has any firsthand knowledge of the subject to raise their hands.

My personal income tax in 2015 was 15%. Since then it has risen to 24% as of 2021. My 2 ageing vehicles are taxed at higher and higher each year, my real estate taxes rise on a regular basis along with my homeowners and auto insurance. I figure groceries are up about 15.5% to 19.5% and rising. Health insurance is totally out of control while quality of medical care has dropped. All of this on a single income plus soc security. And the rich are paying 8%? Corporate right offs are worse, and let us not forget foreign aid, REALLY! So you want me to support your government? Yes your government not mine. A wise old country neighbor we had as I was growing up gave me some advice about if a man had a good dog, a good gun and a good pickup he has just about all he needed, should have listened.

In a nation where 10% of the people pay 75% of the taxes, I hate to break it to you, but you *are* the lower class. Still feel like that's an accurate description of the situation?
@MrTycobb25
@MrTycobb25 Жыл бұрын
@@Ryan-zv6xw True enough... the disappointing part is that 75% of the taxes are paying for programs most of us don't need or want. If we eliminated Gov't waste, or asked EVERYONE to pay their "fair share," there would be no need to steal money from anyone through taxation. No matter how you dice it - there's nothing fair about the imbalance in tax burdens spread across our populous.
@Ryan-zv6xw
@Ryan-zv6xw Жыл бұрын
@@MrTycobb25 Oh, it's even worse than that. So much of government expenditure supports the upper middle class and lower upper class. So if you look at the Ukraine tens of billions -- I support Ukraine self-rule, but our "help" is us paying our own companies to make arms to send there, the money is for our armament companies first, their freedom second. More people work for governments now than work in manufacturing, agriculture, and I believe construction combined. At least one in every hundred working Americans works for a school system. So we are printing, taking, and borrowing money to pay people to get richer than many of them should and then taxing them to give social benefits to people we keep poor by handing out food stamps and free medical care so they'll be willing to work for wages below their worth. It's a huge shell game and the most important thing is the government gets to be the one that hands out the money, so they keep power over all of us.
