It's not just the sound the muffler creates back pressure on the engine this can ristrict the engine but to little back pressure can damage the engine it's a fine balance between noise reduction and back pressure

Agree and replacing rivets are easy and maintains a factory look however, early-on I’ve also had to do what I could, with what I’ve had. Cool video proves the point.

Yes, not everyone likes loud motorcycles! 😉 Some famous brands like Akrapovic, Yoshimura or OEM lines have silent exhaust versions. Just make sure the exhaust you choose is suitable for your bike and complies with local traffic laws

Da hat der TÜV ein Wörtchen mitzureden, wenn plötzlich 20 dB lauter ist. Schweißen = das unsauberste und stümperhafteste Schweißen, was ich in meiner Laufbahn erlebt habe. 1,5 mm Edelstahlelektroden und ab mit 80 AH in einem Gus!

@@inventorK20 Ja mein Freund, es hängt vieles von der Region ab, in der mir Leben. Mein Vater hatte eine Schlosserei. Er war Dreher, Werkzeugmacher, Schmied, Blechschlosser und machte so ziemlich alles selber. Als ich noch Kind war (vor guten 70 Jahren) habe ich fasziniert bei so mancher Arbeit zugesehen. Als Erwachsener wurde mir erst bewusst, wie viel Wissen und Können hinter so mancher Technik steckte, damals war deutsche Handwerkskunst noch gefragt. Die Kunst des Schweißens beherrschte er wie kein anderer. Damals fuhr ich eine alte NSU 251 OSL mit defektem Schalldämpfer. Er schnitt ihn auf, setzte Distanzscheiben ein und verschweißte alles mit 1,5 mm Edelstahlelektroden ohne auch nur ein einziges mal abzusetzen. Diese Naht sah aus, wie heute von teuren Industrieroboter gefertigt. Ich habe 50 Jahre gebraucht, um es nur ansatzweise so hinzubekommen. Schweißen ist eine Kunst, wenn man es kann.

Why not grind down the rivets, drill them out, pull out the silencer, modify it, put it back in and put in new rivets or self-tapping screws? Instead of completely destroying the exhaust and this ugly welding mess. If you're going to do it, do it properly! And why? To get on people's nerves?
