I feel that a piano that is played regularly by the likes of you, is much happier and well adjusted compared to pianos that have been largely ignored for one hundred years. I cannot imagine their pain

Great video Dr K. I have a request! Could you please do a lesson where you teach a few breaks? (That is - where the left hand pattern stops and you play a riff instead for 4 bars, before going back to the left hand pattern on bar 5).... For example what you did in this video at 5:48

hmmmm "trying to do too much too soon and it all kinda falls about apart". mmm.... where does that sound familiar? I cant think.... Yea well that's got it spot on for me. Once again if those piano lessons when I was 10 included some of this my lifes i story might ahve been VERY different. How ever one one's perfect not even the poor elderly lady who had the doubtful pleasure of trying to teach me. She was in her 70s (at least) i those days in the late '70's so presumably she lived through the 2nd WW as a young adult. I often which was more traumatic trying to teach me stuff , scales, folk music etc (when I was craving to play my Uncles Blues and boogie woogie).or enduring the privations of the war. My Dad says during is child hood the sound of my uncle knocking out this base till all hours of the night (and morning.....my uncle can run on 4 hours sleep) was quite familiar. Mr K's video here flashed up at me 4:20 is pretty much where I have been going wrong all this time....... trying to get a melody to fit with a wonky base. AS he correctly observes, this doesn't work. Unfortunately i only have an elderly victorian Piano here (paradoxically grandmas....... which has seen my Uncle playing on ti many a time in the past) which is too loud for it's own good. I a m not going to transit my musical errors over the whole of North Shropshire. Thus Im afraid my woogie woogie I think will have to wait for me to come back in another life time.
