I’ve been hearing the same comments by reviewers, that they are throwaway watches that you just buy another one. I don’t think that’s the intention here and to be honest I also don’t think they’ll be released in the millions for years to come. But let’s see maybe I’m wrong. I know watch collectors who’ve owned the same swatch for many many years and a simple battery change keeps it going. That fisher price, happy meal toy idea is also an odd one imo. I guess reviewers have so much money that 250 euros is just throwaway money to them. There are many people who want to buy this watch as their only watch and not with the intention for it to break after a month and just to buy another, and 250 euros is a lot of money to them. I think there is always a bias in these reviews as most of the people own a speedmaster original or any other stainless steel watch they’ve invested money into and they just feel better dismissing these as nothing watches.

You're absolutely right, and thank you for that, I can totally see that perspective as well ... a lot of people definitely have this as their price ceiling for entry into watches, and for this price range Swatch definitely should build a lot more durability into the product. I think this first launch was basically about stirring hype, and maybe the hype would be sustained if there were better engineering in the product, since, after all, Casio watches and similar are a tenth of the price but have perhaps a thousand times the durability and usefulness of these Omega branded Swatch watches.
