The oscilloscope I'm using now was outdated at least 20 years ago, and last calibrated some years before that (before I bought it) and manufactured over 30 years ago. I'm not sure this one would entirely replace every feature of that monster, but it would replace every I do, it would be a lot easier to use, has some very nice features I do not have, and has better specs for 1% of the price mine sold for when new! (And it uses a fraction of the power... no more 200 watt heater in my "lab"!) I think it's time for a new scope!

Indeed, it is time for a new scope.

This thing has a crazy feature set to price ratio. If you only need a bare bones O scope for cheap, I got an 'Allosun EM125' for ~$50 and it does the job, plus is a DMM for one less tool in my bag. 25MHz bandwidth, 100MSa/S sampling, but the screen is very low res and there's no probe compensation signal generator.
@electronicsNmore3 жыл бұрын
Yes, this unit is feature loaded for the price. Thanks for watching!

That Allosun scope is amazing as well.

That looks amazingly like my Siglent SDS 1102 CML+ It is 100 mHz 1GSa/s Everything is exactly the same except the color & it is $40.00 cheaper! Nice find! 👍🇺🇸

I think it's a got'ahave at that price. About the power cord issue . . . .it looked like the standard computer/monitor/printer/scanner power cord that many people have a drawer full of if they are computer part hoarders like me.(still have a shoe box or various RAM memory chips) but I digress. Was it the standard power cord what fit into the O-scope instrument side?
@electronicsNmore3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's the same power cord used for desktop computers or other electronics. Thanks for watching Joe!

$250 is a lot more than most starting hobbiests can justify-or maybe even afford. Disappointing that you didn't lead with the price; I stepped through to see if you discussed that critical bit.
@electronicsNmore3 жыл бұрын
An oscilloscope like this, for under $250, is an absolute bargain. There are many oscilloscopes costing several hundred or even thousands. Anyone considering electronics as a SERIOUS hobby, not just playing around, needs a reliable brand oscilloscope such as Hantek. Yes, you can buy cheaper, but the features will be lacking, and the product may not last.

Once again, a very informative and interesting video eNm! Although not on my list of things to purchase. I was just wondering what practical applications an Oscilloscope would be used for? Just curious.....
@electronicsNmore3 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it. There are many uses. You can probe certain parts of a circuit to check for proper operation, test automotive sensors and fuel injectors, check the output waveform for power inverters, and much more. Thanks for watching!
@jackjohnson99893 жыл бұрын
@@electronicsNmore "..test automotive sensors and fuel injectors.." I'd like this scope for exactly these applications but I've been warned that bench scopes are severely affected by noise from vehicle electrical systems. Is this so? If it is what is the remedy? Wish I could test this and publish findings but it's not financially possible. Would have to import(at humongous costs) at least two different brands for tests to mean anything. I've scoured the net and found nothing to validate or refute the claim. Also posted questions and got no committed answers. But one understands. When they've invested $4K in a Pico system they probably wouldn't be too concerned whether a $200 bench scope is adequate for others. Further, I cannot buy, rent or borrow any scope in my tiny spot. They are as plentiful as snowploughs* (not a best seller* with temperatures of 85 degrees Fahrenheit 365 days a year). Perhaps you could run some comprehensive tests and post a video. And those of us who benefit can compensate you in some way.

@electronicsNmore3 жыл бұрын
The only lower priced units are handheld.
@anullhandle3 жыл бұрын
At this price this is the novice model. :) Haven't checked in a while but I'd bet entry level scopes from tektronix keysight rs etc. are easy a grand more than this. Another popular entry level scope was the 4 channel 50mhz (super easy to unlock) 100mhz rigol at $350. Last I checked it had all other software upgrade features unlocked out of the box.

Sounds like it is intended to run off an airliner APU or similar (often 115v, 400hz). Does anyone know what other sources of 100-240vac at 400hz might make sense for this scope?

Yes, that's first thing I thought of when I saw the 400-440hz rating.

There are companies who want to maximize labor and it is intended for electrical engineers to work while in flight, you are looking at loss of 1-5 hours in the US for a one way trip. Why only business people can work while flying to meetings and such? All jokes aside, it looks like a typo.

I can't believe they actually give that ungrounded american adapter with the unit. Crazy. An oscilloscope has to be properly grounded with the earth pin.

Great review; it's unfortunate that I'll probably have to get one of these plastic DSOs as my bench just isn't deep enough for all the 18" - 24" long CRT o'scopes I own. They're just too long to fit on the bench without turning them to a difficult to read angle. This little gem can sit on an eye-height narrow shelf facing forward. Nice find!
