Actually, he only lost the memory of killing someone and leaving Price's gang by committing arson, so he still has the memories of his messed up childhood, but not the memory of what he did to Price to make him hate him nor the memory of why he doesn't like killing people. The first one is bad because it means he might not be prepared for what Price will do to him, and the second one is bad because it means he is more nonchalant about dead bodies (which you can see in the previous episode) and he has no qualms about killing people who he previously would have showed mercy.

I've seen some people in the comments get confused about this, so I just want to clarify that the reason why Gillion was still able to be Charmed by Grimm is because two episodes ago he drank some of Grimm's blood that was in a pool because he wanted to see if it was water. That blood being inside of him gave Grimm an advantage over the weaker power of Aslana's necklace, causing him to Charm Gillion more easily. If Gillion hadn't drank any blood, or if he had succeeded his Constitution Saving Throw when he did so, he would have either been fully immune or had Advantage right away when Grimm tried to Charm him. In this case, Grimm wouldn't have sensed his blood inside of Gillion, so he probably would have attempted to Charm one of the others first instead.

Best boss battle of JRWI yet. Grimm's disposition toward theatrics sets a great tone for the battle, and the crew struggling to break free of charm the entire time was great. Also, Gillion's killing blow was INSANE, with one of Charlie's famous stupid one-liners as the added cherry on top. Top notch work from everyone on the JRWI crew for this one.

I cannot state just how incredible this episode was when I saw it live… I was laughing so hard throughout the entire battle (while also being tense as hell), and I won’t lie, I nearly cried at the ultimate decision Chip made in the end. That decision was so *astoundingly* selfless considering all the sh#t that he and Jay and Gillion have gone through to get to that moment, and it’s probably the best display of character development thus far IMO Add on top of that Gillion’s freakin Demon Slayer moment with the sword, Jay almost dying in possibly the most dramatic way possible, and yeah, this is probably one of the best episodes thus far.
