It must have been weird for Wayne Fontana singing this. He had to come to terms with the fact that history had become blurred and that Joe public expected him to do it but in reality the hit was done by the Mindbenders after he left. Still he does sing it well and he had great comic timing and delivery in his stage patter.

Not as good as Eric Stewart, who sang the original recording of The Mindbenders, not Wayne Fontana

So is this Wayne Fontana singing? Stupid question but I thought he left the band before they recorded this song?
@randyrudynski702611 ай бұрын
@@JQ127-c4e Wayne Fontana left the band prior to the recording of A Groovy Kind of Love. As for the performance, yes, that is Wayne Fontana

Who knows if Stewart could sing it live though? At least they're doing it live here, which beats a lip-sync any day. If this guy was singing it in the studio and overdubbed his voice like Stewart did, it would probably sound just as good.

Eric sang live with his other band 10cc and he took over as lead vocalist when Wayne left; so he probably sang this song live at some point.

They are both done in their own kind of style. I prefer the Phil Collins version. Happy Wednesday... thank you for sharing! 💖

I prefer Eric Stewart's vocals or even Phil Collins version, in which he slows the tempo waaaaaay down.

I’ve never seen the sheet music for this song or played it on guitar but it sounds like a chromatic scale to me, at least during the intro. Anyways I think multiple artists have covered it and unfortunately it doesn’t get much AirPlay anymore. Or satellite-radio play either. (I might have to go look at some sheet music today although I can’t really sight-read anymore. If I picked up my guitar I could struggle through it I suppose.)

I guess that the purpose to all this rant is that you’d like people to know that you play the guitar.

I noticed that too, the intro keeps ascending. It probably doesn't get much airplay because groovy is a dated word.

I thought the melody might be Bach but it is actually Muzio Clementi's Sonatina, Opus 36, No. 5. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJjRmZKKpLONfNk
