Being realistic, is good that Ollie is a part of Gotcha life so early. Ollie and Gootcha have simmilar lifespans left and they will definetly outlive their mom. So if Ollie can take care of Gotcha in the future instead having to look for foster parents, it would be better. Is wonderful they get along.

This is wonderful to see. Remembering how long Cockatoo´s can live, if cared and treated with so much love like Gotcha, there´s a very good chance Gotcha will even play with Ollies children one day. Everybody who wants to own a Cockatoo always should take this in consideration. If healthy and in good care, your companion can and will outlive you. This is not easy to think about, but you must have plans for this.

Exactly. That's what I was thinking watching this- this little boy (or his little sister) will probably own Gotcha later in life so it's good for the boy to learn about Gotcha's needs and how best to care for him. And to build their relationship.

Well said! My grandmothers brother had a bird sanctuary and the first cockatoo he rescued was there through several generations. My mom, me , then my daughter. Unfortunately she grieved her self to death after he passed. 🥺

Ollie has grown into a very sweet young boy! I remember when he was a baby, Gotcha was so unsure of this little human that consumed all of his Mommas time! Maybe Gotcha has finally realized the kids aren’t going anywhere so he’ll get more attention if he befriends them. Considering where he’s been, he’s taking it slowly…really slow!!😂🥰

That’s so lovely to see Ollie being so gentle and patient with Gotcha. He’s obviously learning a lot from mum & Dad about treating animals and birds nicely. He’s so grown up now. I volunteer for Audubon at the beach, and I can tell you the VERY FIRST thing young children do when they see a flock of our wild birds resting on the sand is to chase and harass them. EVERY. TIME. Then, their parents laugh and take a picture of our flock of terrified birds escaping from their darlings. What are these kids learning?

Aaaawe not many people get to experience having a bird especially when they're young. This is an awesome way to teach patience. I had a parakeet when I was a kid. Nothing beats being able to learn this way. So precious. Thank you for sharing.
