Have you thought of taking the excess flowers to an aged care home? There are many people who don’t get any visitors, and I’m sure a donation every now and then would be so life enhancing. Just a thought, if you have more than you can handle. 🌸🙏🏼

So much super helpful information! I am attempting a miracle in pressing my friend's full white bridal bouquet 😅 when you mention color enhancing is that just in regards to pigment for colored flowers? Apart from starting the pressing process asap and hoping for minimal bruising, any additional tips on handling white roses would be amazing. Thanks so much!!
@sundaysunshine
@sundaysunshine Жыл бұрын
Color enhancing can be done with white flowers too! Though I don't have experience in this I know some artists use white pigments to keep the flower's color lasting longer. Besides the tips I've already shared, I will say press an abundance of white flower pieces, just petals or small bunches! Especially in white, the thinner the piece the more it can hold it's color (or lack of)!

So helpful. Thank you. And thank you for being so open and accessible in your videos. No one ever explains how to tell when the flowers are ‘finished’. Can you spray the reconstructed flowers with sealer? Would that help with keeping them together?

Thank you so much! I personally have not sprayed flowers with a sealer, but I do know of other pressed flowers artists who do! Their final pressings look just as beautiful!

Great video! Thank you. Jade plants are very hardy and easy to grow. By the looks of the leaves on yours it appears to be under watered. When succulent leaves look like yours do it means there dont have enough moisture in them. The best way to water house plants is to fill your sink with 3 to 4 inches of water and put as may pots in the sink together as you can fit. Leave them in the sink for 20 minutes then remove them. The roots will absorb the water through the bottom on the pots drainage hole. Watering like this usually only needs to be done once a month with succulents.

I love your videos! I personally found that cardstock doesn't work as well as printer paper. It wasn't as absorbent so more of my flowers became moldy and I noticed the colours weren't as vibrant.

Zinnia are so beautiful, but I haven't had a chance to press them myself yet! What I would do is take out some of the petals in the front and cut down the center so that you can press the flower whole! I hope this at least helps to get you started! Let me know how it goes!

How has your experiment with cotton cloth gone? Does it press and reuse well?
@sundaysunshine

I love using the cotton fabric! For larger flowers, I use paper between the flower and fabric to avoid the imprint of the fabric onto the flowers, but it's just a personal preference!

Hai, I like your videos thanks. Recently, I have tried pressed flowers. At first, the flowers pressed well and the color too, then it turned into brown color day by day. It was fresh while I pressed it. What should I do? I am so sad watching my pressed flowers getting brown 😞 help me please, it is so frustrating😞
@sundaysunshine

Thanks for question! I know it can be frustrating and I hope you don't give up on the craft! Flowers will naturally brown and discolor, it's part of the process. However there are way to slow it down, keeping you flowers away from direct sunlight and away from humid spaces will help tremendously. I also have a video that shows how I store pressed flowers to make sure they last as long as possible: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3zCeKuohriUqKcfeature=shared I hope this helps!

How long do you leave the flower in the press? Or do u press it and then take it out immediately after?
@sundaysunshine
@sundaysunshine Жыл бұрын
It really depends on a lot of factors for how long a flower will be in the press. Don't be afraid to open your press and gently run your finger over it to see if it's fully done! For flowers that I don't immediately use, I store in a binder sandwiched between paper! I hope this helps!

Where do you get your floating frames from? And how do you avoid mold?
@sundaysunshine
@sundaysunshine 2 жыл бұрын
Hi!~ I've used a few floating frames but unfortunately most of them are discontinued. I will link what I can! This is the first floating frame I ever purchased. I find with frames like these that don't have a border piece dust can easily get inside but it's very user friendly: smile.amazon.com/AITEE-4x6%EF%BC%8CClear-Double-Sided-Frame%EF%BC%8CMagnetic-Display-%EF%BC%883pcs/dp/B089QFHF23/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2QI9CZG7OAAPE&keywords=AITEE+Acrylic+Picture+Frame+4x6%EF%BC%8CClear+Double-Sided+Photo+Frame%EF%BC%8CMagnetic+Photo+Frames+Desktop+Display.&qid=1665095489&sprefix=%2Caps%2C393&sr=8-4 I also sell my own floating frames that come with Polaroids and pressed flowers for you to create your own personalized frame: www.wearesundaysunshine.com/shop/p/diy-kit-5x7-custom-polaroid-pressed-floral-frame I've found that Amazon, Target, Etsy and sometimes even thrift stores have a good selection of floating frames! To prevent mold, I change out the papers during the pressing process and store them with silica beads or sandwiched between paper to draw any potential moisture that may affect the flowers. I hope this helps!

I start to press flowers to make gift to my boyfriend for our anniversary, i have a homemade press (i started with books) and put the flowers between paper. But still my flowers aren't beautiful like yours, idk why. I cut them on the moment and then put them in the press, but still the colors fade away. My last red flowers have become brown and i don't understand why
@sundaysunshine
@sundaysunshine Жыл бұрын
I understand the frustration! I've learned that colors will change, reds especially can turn a dark purple or brown. If you give it another try, compare the color you get from pressed single petals to whole flowers and adjust your process from there! It really is a journey! If you don't like the colors you can color enhance by painting them with a diluted pigment. I don't have experience in doing this but KZbin has many great resources! Best of luck!

@sundaysunshine

Thanks for your question! Do you mean how much does it cost to get a bouquet preserved by a professional? This really can depend on their experience, availability and special offerings but I've seen this cost between $200USD - $800USD+. If you mean how much does a bouquet of flowers cost, it can range from $10USD - $20USD+! I hope I was able to answer your question!

I just found your videos today and they are so helpful and I love your aesthetic ❤️🌻 if it's okay, I would just give a little constructive criticism: I would recommend recording your audio with an extra microphone, so it doesn't echo as much. Especially with quite a loud background music with strong bass, it is a little hard to listen to what you're explaining. (It doesn't have to be an expensive microphone, just one that is a little closer to your face and not the camera incl. mic, as it is quite far away.) Other than that, I really enjoyed your videos so far and you've gained a new subscriber and I'll be sure to share it with my DIY enthusiast friends 😊
