EXO members are exceptionally talented. They are successful individually. They excel even when doing solo work, which for me is hard for other groups to achieve. There are groups who can only succeed when they are together. EXO members will excel wherever you put them in the entertainment industry. They all can act, can sing, can dance, are brand ambassadors, models and so on. They are also very humble. The humblest idols there is. Despite their fame, they stay grounded. They never showoff their riches. They wear simple clothing when not working. They are very simple people. They don't even wear jewelries outside of work. I believe his name is pronounced Bake+hyun because he equates it to 'bacon'. It sounds a little more like Beck so it is probably somewhere in between 'bake' and 'beck'. I am a native English speaker so that is my best estimate. It's fun experiencing EXO with you. Thanks!

His name is 백현. Actually it's more like Bek Hyun with the B sounding kind of a soft B/P mixture and the Hyun sounds like the car maker, Hyundai. Us Koreans pronounce the second part of his name with not a "y" and rather an "h". As for him saying people can call him "Bacon", I think it's more respectful to at least attempt to use his proper name.

He hasn’t mention the nickname „bacon“ in YEARS. I’m 100 percent sure that that was scripted for ELLEN to adapt to the Americans who are bad in pronouncing foreign names. If he himself would really like being called that he would’ve told his closer fans way earlier on insta or Vlives... I just cringe so hard by the thought of calling someone who’s so great bacon.. like That nickname degrades him in some way. He also said once That he likes the term Genius Idol when asked for favorite nickname :) also in the German Alphabet we have the bAEk sound as a letter which is Ä.

As a Korean, I used to have to say my Korean name over and over to people when they wanted to know how to pronounce my name when I was in grade school. You get frustrated because people have such a hard time with the name and it makes you awfully self-conscious and embarrassed. I had/have a western name but kids used to ask what my Korean name was all the time. It got really tiring and you get to the point where you tell people, "Oh, don't worry. Just call me _____." It was like this for me and all my other Korean-American friends in school. We were very proud of our Korean names but you get tired and just want people to stop so you give them something easier to pronounce. That's why so many Korean kids had western nicknames or actually changed their names to a western name. It's sad. That's why I prefer fans to call Baekhyun, and other idols, by their real names and not by some cringe-inducing western word that they themselves don't really like. Besides, I think it shows respect when international fans at least show some effort and attempt to use their Korean names. We know most international fans won't get it completely accurate but appreciate their willingness to learn. I sometimes cringe and laugh when I hear the different mispronunciations ( often because they stress the wrong syllable) but I don't get irritated like I do at people who just take the easy way out i.e. "Bacon." Take care & stay safe.

@@romi_4078 That's ok. It was a bit traumatizing as a kid but that was DECADES ago. LOL As for the surname Byun, I don't know. Is there a context where they comment about it being special? Byun isn't one of the rare Korean surnames. "Doh" is actually less common. LOL The name Byun originally came from the Chinese Bian and the meaning depends on which Chinese character is used卞, 變, or 邊. It can mean impatient and excitable, change/transform, flexible, border/edge or even law. If I had to make a guess, I'd pick excitable and impatient. I admit my hanja (Chinese characters) isn't the best though. Sorry you're still recovering from the virus. Thankfully, it hasn't been that bad in the Washington, DC area but getting a vaccination has been difficult.

Zeldris Wait why are you not mentioning Lay and Sehun wtf! It‘s official that Kai Lay and Sehun are Main Dancers. Xiumin is a Lead Dancer. Baekhyun has no position in Dance, yes he is good and gets his solos but do you not notice that in EXO choreographies he isn‘t often in the front? He‘s definitely not in the dance line even though his dance is one of my favorites. But he dances more with emotion ratehr than with skilled techniques (like the Dance line) and I think that‘s also a reason why he is not in the Dance line.

Baekhyun's head voice is well supported and well developed , so he doesn't make harsh sounds. *To see how other artist acknowledges him as a great singer makes me happy, that he is recognized for his talent, he got all that thanks to hardwork even after 8 years since debuting makes my chest full of many emotions, I’m glad I’m able to listen to all the music styles he tries.

Something about his and DO's voice how they're both able to convey so much emotion singing. At some stage you might want to checkout EXO showtime which was their 1st and only reality show with all 12 members. Btw, his name's pronounced as bek-hyun with the 'bek' part almost like 'pek' (the letter B is sounded with the lips rather than the mouth) so if you say the word bek from your lips it kinda sounds like pek. Hope that makes sense.
