Perhaps a work around for this obvious disliked feature would be perhaps to set up the employees as suppliers and then pay them through the purchase ledger which would potentially avoid this cumbersome feature within Xero. Thank you for the excellent explanation though

It’s a shame you can’t export the data before they’re approved as Xero does not put individual receipts in date order so it’s hard to check for duplicates when an employee has entered their expenses via Xero me. Also, if you amend an account that the expense has gone to, it moves it to the top of the list, causing more confusion. Definitely needs some improvement.
