I’ve lived in Fremont for 59 yrs and have never tried to climb Mission Peak. Thanks very much for showing me what it would be like. Great job. Peggy M

I really appreciate your dedication to record this for us. You basically hiked certain parts twice to get your camera 🤯 I never knew what that hike looked like but heard stories that I was scared to even try. Now seeing your video I’m ready to give it a try, thank you!!

Thank you. I actually didn't want the thumbnail to be the tree; to leave more mystery. BUT it was the best thumbnail I had, so 🤣. Hope you guys had a great Christmas! I still gotta figure out how to post on your fb community page 🤣. I've just been SO busy

Thats awesome you got the Sigma, such a great lens for that camera. I now use an nd filter for filming outside; I used it in this video. We also now know the camera and lens can take a hard fall and survive 🤣

@@ChooseAdventureCaliforniaStyle I saw that! Good to hear!

@@AdventuresinMillerland oh and the other advantage to using the nd filter is it adds even more background blur. Pretty cool 😎

I'm a hike-aholic living in the Dublin/Pleasanton/San Ramon area. I hiked Mission Peak for the first time on Monday, 9-18-2023 (I'm posting this on 9-21-2023). You weren't kidding about the parking situation. The parking lot opens at 6:30 am (as you said, there's no parking fee). I got there at 8:15 am, and it was already completely full. I found street parking a block away, and when I started the hike up, I could already see several people coming down, so I guess the lot starts filling up immediately upon opening. No complaints, though. Its easy to see why its so popular. Its reasonably challenging, and non-stop beautiful!

I'm glad you got to hike Mission Peak. I agree, it's non-stop beautiful views. I was lucky the day I hiked it, not to bad crowd wise. Definitely the earlier the better. I've heard the most epic hike is starting out in the dark with a headlamp. Then watching the sunrise from the peak. Was the Mission Peak pole fixed? I heard it got vandalized, and someone took the pole.
@AlexDanielCPhT Жыл бұрын
The pole at the summit is a plain unmarked waist-high mildly rusty pole atop a 5-foot-high mini-hill of rocks. It is handy, cuz it provides something to hold onto atop that hill of rocks, so one can safely snap selfies. I'm unfamiliar with the pole's history, so I thought nothing of its plainness. [Editted for typos].

@FoodinSR I saw on the news someone sawed it off and it's gone...🤔. This happened recently
@AlexDanielCPhT Жыл бұрын
The top half of the pole is gone, yes. There's just the lower half still standing.
@AlexDanielCPhT Жыл бұрын
UPDATE: According to a KRON4 news story on Sept. 4th by Sophia Villalba and Amanda Hari, the sawed-off top half of the pole has been recovered, per the East Bay Regional Park District. But it hasn't yet been re-attached at the summit.

Just a little "steep"! Next time, here are some synonyms for ya: precipitous, sheer, abrupt, sharp, perpendicular, vertical, vertiginous. lol I too, am one of those who end up going the opposite direction to the regular crowd. The tree has been found and fantastic views enjoyed! Take great care now and hope you have yourself a very Merry Christmas from Bruce and Otis!

Lol...great vocabulary 😁. Some sections were tippy toe steep! I'm so happy the tree was there! Merry Christmas Bruce and Otis. To many more adventures 🍻

Awesome..well covered trail..Is there any forest in the trail? You mentioned you lost the signals for a short time when you faced some forest area.
@ChooseAdventureCaliforniaStyle Жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks. If you do the loop like I did, there is a small section of "forest." It's not a big section at all. Other than that, it's all in the open. It's an awesome hike.

I did this hike yesterday from Ohlone College trail, we started 7am, reach the top around 9ish. It was my 2nd time reach the top out of 3 times lol (yes I gave up my 1st time). Its no joke but worth the view! Sadly the iconic post has been cut off.

That's awesome, I'm glad you made it! It is such a beautiful mountain. I saw on the news that someone vandalized the pole, really sad. Hopefully, it gets restored soon.

When did you go? Im debating about going this Friday but dont want it to be super muddy
@ChooseAdventureCaliforniaStyle3 жыл бұрын
I think I went about 6 days ago. I saw on fb it was snowing up there. I'd imagine it would be muddy. Keep an eye on the weather though... but ya, probably safe to say muddy. The way I went for sure would be rough, the other way(left) might be ok. There is 1 steep climb before the summit that could be muddy. Good luck!
