Just to add, if you would like to have best third traits: Golden Eagle Marksman (+20 stamina) or Boot Camp Survivor (+20 health) paired with Diehard Veteran (Heroism as the highest specialized skill), ensure Prowess is the 2nd highest specialized skill, and the survivor has approximately ~190 health for Boot Camp Survivor; or ensure Warfighting is the 2nd highest specialized skill specialized, and the survivor has approximately ~135 stamina for Golden Eagle Marksman. A red talon recruit without Golden Marksman Survivor will have ~115 Stamina, and a red talon recruit without Boot Camp Survivor will have ~170 health. Tested 6 times, worked 100%.These two 3rd traits are the best paired with Diehard Veteran, since once their skills are maxed out, the % experience gains are essentially useless. Keep up the good work!

This helped quite a bit with recruiting a new RT member. I was looking for someone with Foraging, Boot Camp Survivor and Diehard Veteran. Got that exact set around the fifteenth try. Won't replace one of my first RT recruits, Head, who unfortunately died due to my lack of preparedness, but he will be very helpful in the long-run. I've still got God Mode with me. This is great. This clears up a lot of confusion I've had about RT recruits. I have never seen a Hacker. I have probably recruited 20 RT operatives from Daybreak points and I have never EVER seen a Hacker. What I can do with a 7th outpost outweighs all the negatives involved.

Not sure if it was mentioned but when I was trying to reroll for the right stats, I ended up claiming the other 3 spots where the RT contractor could spawn and they would spawn at the same one every time. They won't spawn in a location that is claimed as an outpost. Really cut down my time from having to run to different spawn points.

Yeah it's good it will be handy. I usually pick 3 really strong survivors at the start. And will usually legacy pool survivors over as i get influence. Ones that are what i need and op with lots of health and positive morale traits. So being able to pick a strong red talon guy will be nice

I don't really enjoy the actual day break game so I have just been letting zombie sieges run a muck so I get 100-300 of the daybreak influence for each siege on my base to slowly save for a red talon . I really wanna use this to get the best 3 recruits to start a dread map without any boons, but my brain starts to melt when I get to the skills and pros and cons, plus not knowing what room unlocking traits will be most useful for the start of the map. I really love self sufficient bases I can leave doing their own thing while I focus on looking for base Mods, gear, and doing missions, but not having the builder boon means I'll have to either waste 2 base slots to build a gen and water catcher, or waste 2 outpost slots to bring electricity and water to the town. Then again, my main focus in the first run will be getting the builder ending so I can get the boon. Only then will I focus on enjoying the map properly and surviving for a long time (I only beat the game on lowest difficulty for it's 4 boons, but it's not as much fun being op when you know the game is going so easy on you that it might as well be mocking you)

I wish someone had made these in depth videos about character traits. The wiki trait list never explored all the best combinations or the fringe traits, and as the updates kept dropping you had to spend more and more time looking for specific traits like Blood Plague Survivor.

Hello Gents. Perfect Movie BUT i need to tell u all how it goes for me. Ive spend about 4 hours and about 200+ rolls to get Hacker + (1) Heroizm (Diehard Veteran)+ (2) Warfighting (+20 stamina)... and when i get this triple skill stack (after 4 hours) i didnt get the stamina trait... so i was pissed and run comunity editor and change this stupid trait with 50% exp to +20 extra stamina. To be honest.... If i ware u i woulndt waste so much time to roll the dice. Just find first hacker and than change traits in community editor. Thanks anyway for this movie. It helps a lot.

I’m certain to be of a minority opinion on this one, but I’m definitely going to miss the Utility Vests hero bonus. The normal survivor alternative, Pre-Packed Gear, provides only half of the value at +5 light carry capacity compared to the +10 from Utility Vests. As someone who uses Marathon on a lot of my survivors, Utility Vests was often the difference between holding a weapon like a CLEO Heavy Sniper, and still maintaining my infinite sprint without stamina cost. Although it’s unlikely, a buff to Pre-Packed Gear would be much appreciated to make up for the effect I used to be able to get on Red Talon contractors before Update 27. Otherwise, we can say goodbye to ~60 light carry capacity builds in our communities :( On another note though, this video is amazing and should be the definitive wiki/internet resource for Red Talon recruitment (if it isn’t already!). The effort given to make this is incredible. Thank you for testing this out for all us survivors out there!

Best first trait has already been discussed in the video. For the 3rd traits, the additional health or stamina bonus will be great. Check the pinned comment about how to predict them. If you are doing solo survivor run, recruit an RT with Vigil guard 1st trait and Front line experience 3rd trait.. they will have -120% Fatigue severity. They don't need coffee or Espresso. For regular survivors, we can only see if they have any negative or bonus health/stamina by looking at their health before recruiting.

I see people talking about Daybreak (mode) and now I'm guessing that has something to do with it, but help a brother out. WHERE should I begin? Play Daybreaks. You will earn prestige. Now when you play campaign, you can goto, Radio Menu -> Daybreak There you will see options.

I've reloaded the RT base workshop mission since the last patch over 100 times and Tactics and Warfighting no longer come as the highest specialized skill with demolitions. This is also the case with RT recruiting over the radio for me. Has anyone else run into this?

I see that the mobile operations hero bonus is 50% vehicle endurance, could this be paired with the driver quirk to make a car invincible when a driver quirk character uses a car?

People often get confused with the bonuses like this. It is +50% endurance and not -50% damage. If you have 2x +50% vehicle endurance, your car will have +100% endurance which means, your car will be twice as durable as before! The game doesn't have any bonus that offers -50% vehicle damage. So invincible cars is not possible!

Question: Looking over my notes, could it possibly be your negative skill for not having two specializations is based on your lowest skill? Like if your lowest skill is Heroism and you have only one specialization, you get the +25% Fatigue Severity? Because I can see a parallel in Tactics/ -10% Standing as well so low Prowess might give +50% Food Consumed and Low Warfighting might be +25% Injury Severity... just a thought but I think with as strong as all the other links are, I find it hard to believe the negatives are random.

Gutpacking is very strong if you plan on using a kitchen. A gutpacking RT will give you 30% food consumption, while rationing will net you 50% rationing, hitting the -75% food consumption. Since the RT has (nutrition) it reduces the penalty of rationing to (-5 stamina, -15 morale) This is still a big hit though. However at -75% food consumption a 12 man base on lethal is only eating 6 food instead of 24. Now if you spend 3 food for a "feast" this gives you (+30 stamina, +10 morale) This brings your base to (+25 stamina, -5 morale) total for the cost of 9 food on lethal. This means a base with a kitchen can go food neutral with 1 tier 3 food outpost late game, or go food positive with 2 tier 2 food outposts, and never need to run a garden/hydro/farm to begin with in base. And of course thats running a 12 man base. If you are playing an 8 man base then you only need 7 food total income to keep this up. Or if you want to add 1 more food cost you can also run a slow cooker which will net you (+10 morale) which brings your kitchen up to a (+25 stamina, +5 morale) So for an 8 man base you can spend 8 food a day on lethal to feed them, get +25 stamina, and +5 morale with a RT gutpacker and really only need a tier 3 food outpost to do it and be making a food profit. Really changes how you can build up your base. Gutpackers are a game changer on lethal.

Hey Rvid! First of all amazing video! Next is a off topic question but since your research skills and devotion to this game is amazing I wanted to ask if you can find out how to do the rare counter attack against a zombie as it bites you. I dont know if this has happened to you yet but on two occasions during the 2 years that I been playing this game the zombie does its bite attack and the moment it connects the survivor shoves them into the ground and not inflicting any damage. I would really love to find out how to do this counter attack more often. I dont know if its a matter or luck or certain buttons pressed. But yea hope to hear your response! Keep those amazing videos coming!

So if I’m trying to get a red talon op with one of each of the 5th skills would the best traits be 1st die hard/vigil 2nd won’t matter cause 1 of each 5th skill 3rd frontline and hero trait sleeping in shifts/owed favors?
