1987, October 18: a-ha participate in the Norwegian "TV-Aksjonen: Hjerter for livet". An interview with the band is broadcast, and they perform "Cold River". Video from England, where they are working on their forthcoming album.

If you listen to the Train of Thought demo included on the deluxe edition of Hunting High and Low, the main riff is the one they used years later for Cold River. I just noticed this!

This amazing song sould have been then on Stay On These Roads (the a-ha album in 1988). I wish someone would put it on the Stay On These Roads remasterd et expanded version... Because this version seems rather better tah the version on East of The Sun West Of The Moon...

I love seeing how these songs developed-- "I want to lie in an open field" is also a Doors lyric, I think. What are they talking about James Bond at the end? Nice energy here-- I think I may prefer it to the album version (although that has some kick-ass guitar).

i don't know why Cold River isn't on Stay on these roads album but i am sure this tv appearance is in October 1987 ... Maybe somebody knows something more about the song Cold River??

But wait a minute, Cold River is a song included on their 1990 album "East of the Sun West of the Moon", recorded between 1989 and 1990. Are you sure this video isn't from 1989? Or possibly they had already created this song much before the album, but then how come they did not include it on the "Stay On These Roads" album from 1988? I'm just curious :)
