This song is so good ! I used to listen it a lot when I was a teenager. I can suggest you to listen to "Hunting high and low", a really masterpiece, and "Summer moved on", where Morten gets very high notes a long time, it's unbelievable. I learned that it was in the Guiness book for that. Please like my comment so Dereck will maybe listen to it. Dereck, thank you for the job you do !

Love this!! This is my favourite a-ha single, probably because it is less 'synthy'. I like the bass and drums in this and especially near the end when you think it has finished, but bursts back to life! Morten, of course, spectacular vocals and great harmonies from Mags and Pal. This Alone Is Love, that you mentioned, is gorgeous!!

"I´ve Been Losing You" it´s one of most understimated songs from A-HA. Have a strong bassline, and the second part is powerfull as a movie soundtrack. "Cold Stone", from album MEMORIAL BEACH, it´s amazing too, with a very sofisticate atmosphere. Keep doing your amazing work, Derek! Sorry for not contribute on your Patreon - the economy here in Brazil is not easy at this period, and the exchange between REAL and DOLAR is huge. Congrats!

You really need to check out the title track Scoundrel Days as it’s a killer opening and what a track too !! Shows off Mortens voice to its finest from quiet moments to all out full force !! I can’t wait to see them in May performing the full Hunting High & Low album for the last time and with a 32 piece orchestra too !!! Other tracks to check out, Stay on These Roads, Touchy, Crying in the Rain, Foot of the Mountain, Velvet, Summer Moved On, The Bandstand, Cast In Steel, Analogue, Lifelines, Riding The Crest, You Are The One, The Living Daylights, Minor Earth Major Sky, Cry Wolf and Forever Not Yours. There are so many others but these are some of my favourites across most of the albums.

Hello Dereck, It reminds me a little some D. Bowie according to this way of singing with this alternate between low and lead tones voice (until falsetto) used by the singer. Excellent song, indeed! Thanks for the reaction. Good Sunday, folks!

Thanks for reacting to this, Dereck! I was such a a-ha fan in my early teens... until I was introduced to U2, The Cure and Simple Minds, who thoroughly upgraded my music taste. Still, fond memories of this hit.

a-ha is an upgrade on most music tastes
@luckydevil45942 жыл бұрын
Interesting you should say that. I adored the Cure, U2 and SM and thought I was too cool for A-ha who were too poppy and sweet. How wrong I was. They are incredibly talented musicians and he is a superior vocalist (as good as Bono or R Smith if not better). Unlike Dereck I find this song more interesting than their better known ones because it has more of a rock feel.
@VKayed2 жыл бұрын
@@luckydevil4594 I still find their first and second album quite good; I only quit with "Stay on These Roads" which was very subpar compared to those.
@markwebster74352 жыл бұрын
@@VKayed did you not listen to the albums that came after stay on these roads? They then completely changed their style and sound after that
@markwebster74352 жыл бұрын
@@luckydevil4594 bono wishes he could have a voice like Morten, he ain’t in the same league as Morten, then again not many are. a-ha were always a rock band by their influences, but they went with the pop sound as it was what was in the charts when they first came to England, plus they had to find away of making music and demos with just 3 of them. So the pop sound fitted those needs. Morten was in a blues band, and Paul and magne were in a band called bridges which was much more the doors alternative sound

Probably Norway's best musical export. I love I've been losing you. The Scoundrel Days album is really good. I love the title track Scoundrel Days and the James Bond track The Living Daylights together with I've Been Losing You makes for 3 epic songs on the one studio album. Morten Harket sings so well his pronunciation of English words is so great it puts many English speakers to shame.
