For example... • Pianos and guitars need tuning over time • Brand new instruments can take time to 'wear in' • Many instruments (eg violins) generally sound better with age • Instruments can sound slightly different from different manufacturers, even the same model from the same manufacturer • Play an instrument in different environments/studios gives a different sound • Different mics and mic placement results in a very different sound • Recording techniques and technology were different in the 80s • Old recordings can degrade, with noise, hiss, etc • Human vocals _definitely_ change with age! In contrast, synths are mathematical and electronic and are not capable of 'ageing' like a conventional instrument, meaning they can be played forever and always sound absolutely identical.
