The Excelsior E2 has become quite an elusive animal. Are there other brands and styles of rotary, or semi-rotary hand pumps that could serve the same purpose, in the same way? Thanks!

wow, this is surprising! my grandpa has one in his weekend house to pump the rainwater from the tank up to the attic water tank. but the consensus in the family is that the pump kinda sucks, so we preffered carrying 10l buckets of water up the stairs, if not using a generator and a pump... i remember this kind of pump being the last, last option to consider....

Outstanding system, you are a fountain of knowledge. Would you recommend this pump to feed from a pond that needs about a 20-25' lift to the house _(Do you have an accurate way to measure lift over distance?)_? If so, would one use a floating strainer at the pond; then several pre-filtration steps, then check valve, before hitting any ceramic filter? I suppose a floating supply line _(PEX?)_ in the pond would freeze solid, perhaps the inlet should be below any potential pond ice 12">?

I want to put this on my shallow well. How shallow does the well need to be? And do I place it between the Electric pump and tank?
@jutec62545 жыл бұрын
Excellent video , very clear . I will use a similar system for a boat , no electricity and enough pressure for a shower and kitchen sink. Do you know what is the maximum PSI that you can get in your set up? Thanks
@kawikahokulani10 жыл бұрын
Aloha. I like this. I had a brainstorm. Use (2) pumps. Mount them so the handles are sticking up, with foot rests mounted on opposite sides of each handle. Mount 2 seats, facing each other, so the pumps can be pumped by 2 people pressing with their legs, sorta like the Hobie Pelican Drives on their Kayaks. Mounting a center pivot point and a tie-bar between the (2) handles would allow 1 person to pump it, the resistance would be greater as it is only 1 person pumping and each extension of each leg would be actuating both pumps during a power stroke. But with 2 people, it would be very little effort and you are effectively using the largest, most powerful muscle groups in the body. Peace & Prepare Pax et Paro

so, this pump is not designed for potable water? I bought it because I wanted to make sure my family had drinking water but it appears you have to filter it after the pressure tank? Is that because of the mineral oil?
@easyjohnny43207 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Can this be connected with my existing shallow well water system? In between my jet pump and sediment filter to use it during no electricity situations? Thanks for the video.
@magikknights7218 жыл бұрын
engineer775, you mentioned that you only pumped for a min and got that good sample pressure, I think you said the bladder tank can handle 80psi. question does the pumping of handle give more resistance as you get near the max psi? can you feel it so as to not over pump? I am hoping the answer is yes, but would like confirmation.

Thanks this might be what I am looking for - will it pump water up a hill? My well is a near my home (about 3 or 4 tiles deep) but it down a slight hill. If power goes out will I be able to pump water to the house/bladder? Must I prime it?
@engineer77510 жыл бұрын
Hey Tim, Can you estimate the elevation from the top of your water to the bladder tank in your basement? The pump will suction lift 22 and after the pump lift 90 ft. You want to have a foot valve in the well. It is self priming. Send me and email if you want to work out the details of this.

Maybe I don't understand this fully, but Why would you want to shower or consider water as "Potable" from a catchment system (ie rain barrels) or swimming pool, (especially after the summer season and a few rain storms) ? Wouldn't it need to be pre-filtered? Not pre-filtering it I would be afraid to run water with any type of possible sediment thru an expensive pump for fear of destroying it
@engineer77510 жыл бұрын
At the end of the video I put a picture of a system for filtering the water to make it potable if the source is not. Whole house filtration from any water source! If your source water is bad you can surely pre-filter it. My raincatchment system I am connecting it to has 4 ways of prefiltering. Rain harvesting ... It's about time I did this! Hope that helps.
@Archangel080410 жыл бұрын
