This guy did a great job speaking. Why would anyone waste their time throwing insults in here? Is it fun? No. Have you got nothing better to do? I suggest you get a life. Gay people do nothing that interferes with the lives of others. If you can't stand the sight of a same-sex couple, get a blindfold and wear it around your eyes for the rest of your life. There will be a lot of things you don't like seeing. Put up with it. Leave loving comments next time. Gay people rule!!! :)

2 comments: 1. Does anyone have a transcript of this? I'm on my school's speech team (OD, if anyone's wondering) and I'm looking for something moving with a point that I agree with. This speech is fantastic, and I'd be honored to perform it week after week this coming year. 2. To all the people who hate, think about what you're saying. One of my best friends is gay, and he is one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. And also the New Testament says "love thy neighbor as thyself." Just so you know.

But if we do an experiment, with a control group, that a baby born and TAUGHT that being gay or lesbian is what everyone does, he will LEARN it. After the experiment, that baby, now a kid, will have a tough time choosing to be straight. Again, I can like my red shirt, people tell me it looks bad, and i can't really instantly say its bad, i still like it.

besides them. If you want to detain their rights, we should detain you of yours. You have the legal right to speak your mind, but so do we. Anything you say, ANY reason you may have for gays to not have equal rights will surely be argued. This battle may be over, but the war still drags on. The LGBT community has many supporters, like me, who will defend their rights. Love is stronger, by far, than hate. Love conquers all. Our love sees through your hate and into each heart of every gay. Thanks!

I'm laughing at everyone trying to defend themselves with the "I didn't choose to be homosexual" thing. Now I'm not arguing for or against either side, I would simply like to point out that there is little to no compelling evidence, scientifically, that would suggest that sexual orientation is not a choice made by a conscious mind. Stop kidding yourselves. If you're gay, you choose to be gay. If you're straight, you choose to be straight. All based on how you're raised and how you view the world

I certainly don't understand that someone feels the pride of talking and deciding for someone else's life.... every person makes his her own decisions and choices.... so we cannot decide the life of others beacuse we are living different lifes... if you can't eat that well don't eat it... believe me I will still order it... you order your own food or we go to a buffet. Let me add something, I'm a gay man who fights like one and compromise to stand up for others who need it no matter what

Allow me to rephrase: There IS compelling scientific evidence in favor of sexual orientation being a state of mind, or a belief, similar to religion. One can believe that they are homosexual or heterosexual just as one can believe in this God or that. So while you can't wake up one day and say "hmm, I want to be Gay today," you certainly aren't born with a predisposition to either orientation. It's simply a matter of the beliefs you develop as you develop and the environment you are raised in.

You have to take hormones and the chemical make up of the brain into consideration as well. Thought patterns and enviroment are what shapes learning and development outwardly. Inwardly is a completely different situation. Biological function concerning the brain may be compared to a computer but (and I stress this), the brain is unlike any computer or program. The brain is more complex and has a chemical factor that has to be taken into account when discussing innate traits and development.

we all feel aggression when our gang or club is attacked and act naturally, however its unintelligent to act with ones own mind and pleasure in mind and function outside of a community. ask grandpa and grandma if they approve of the actions and activities of people who are merely halfway cultivated, how long can your generation last with support for uneconomical behaviors.

if it were so natural and ok, it would have already happened at one point in history, look at the past in any religion, faith and history you will see that two people married who benefit from the institution are always the opposite sex. the reason for a claim to what benefits have been set up is due to one person attempting to lay claim and be something they simply are not. the point of marriage is to have support to make people, where you came from, where we all came from.

all im saying is that there is not enough evidence saying that the matter is decided completely. we have only just begun to scratch the surface of our own genetic makeup, so we must wait for more studies and more tests to come out before attempting to argue one way or the other and compelling evidence that sexual orientation can and is influenced by social stimuli is not saying that that is all there is. Also do you have a source for your claims?

I'm not against homosexuals, but are you telling me you can be born different? BORN to think a different way? Are you saying that different brains are formed specifically so that they're attracted to the same sex? I was always taught everyone was born equal. It's also like how babies aren't born mean, or aren't born racists.

LTs 20:13 - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." Romans 1:26-27 "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." THE REWARD FOR SIN IS DEATH!

I expected more from a Harvard student. Yes, we got some high vocabulary, but vocabulary with empty words of sophism are meaningless. The appeal to emotion is a fallacy and does not prove anything regarding "gay rights" are the true issue. Those criminal actions against the "gay" people were wrong even if the victims were NOT gay. The sophistic attempt to make this about "equality" will not work, as most people understand that this is a game of words to get special rights for a specific view.

And another thing, the "I didn't choose to be homosexual" argument just makes you look silly. Here you are up in arms trying to get rights for homosexuals, and yet your argument is essentially saying you wish you could choose differently(see disposablefreedom's comment, for example).Be proud of the CHOICE you made. If you choose to be gay, terrific! If not, equally so! Note:I am a christian and homosexuality is against christianity. So I am not homosexual, but that doesn't give me power to judge

your missing my point I'm saying that while you still unsourced "studies" show that the brain responds to social and environmental stimulus maybe there is another potentially genetic reason which would help explain why people are attracted to others. Since Genetic testing is in its infancy due to morality concerns it lacks the time and research that physics, mathematics, and languages have. Nice try good sir but you failed to understand my first point so your last shot was off the mark

Explain to me how two people of the same sex is in any way a method by which someone is stripped of exercise of religion. I'm an atheist, so isn't having "In God We Trust" as the official motto of the country stripping me of my belief that there is no God and a violation of the Establishment Clause simultaneously. Homosexuals are NOT protected under the law like every individual; only in 20 states are there protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Also, if you're going to bring up the argument that you just did, then we might as well throw all science out the window, right? Because maybe in 50 years we'll have the technology to prove it differently. Forget physics, it'll be different in 50 years! Why should we waste time studying mathematics when it's just going to change in the future? Surely we shouldn't be developing our language skills, in 50 years we might speak a different language! ...Do you see how silly that argument is, now?

You're comparing orientation to fashion? It's not that simple, you are inately who you are and there is no changing it. If you could decide, you could decide to be Gay tommorrow. Can you? Can you change your attraction from the opposite sex tommorrow? Can you desire the same sex at will? Seriously...
@Croveski
@Croveski 12 жыл бұрын
What you just said essentially is not christian. It is made abundantly clear that the ONLY way to get in to heaven is to accept Jesus Christ as your savior. All free will decisions you make beyond that, both christian and sinful, determine the blessings you receive. Choosing to be gay may be a sin, but it certainly won't keep you out of heaven.

God created all of us with a variety of sexual orientations. Your vies that there is only one true orientation is the problem. The problem is your disbelief. The problem is not gay people making a choice to be different that you. We do not make a choice about our sexual orientation. The only thing we choose is to stand up and tell the truth about who we are. God created both you and me the way we are. When you accept "God's purposeful diversity" then you will understand.

@Thebestofitalloffcial

Marriage is not for reproducing. People have kids without getting married, people get married and never have kids. allowing gays to marry will do nothing to children. Unless they adopt, which even that is has no negative effect on children. Look up "depfox" and watch some of their videos. then come back and respond.

Maybe you better do some scientific research. I will say this once again. There is NO compelling scientific evidence that suggests sexual orientation is anything but a choice. There are many reasons to choose to be gay: You simply like people of the same sex. You want to be part of a community, or you even want to be part of a movement (yes, some people choose to be gay simply for attention) Also, I posted that comment 7 months ago.
