Why on earth would anyone dislike this video?!?!?! For once could we stop thinking about what political party we agree with and just be happy that important people see what is going on. When you dislike this video, how does that make you feel? Does it make you seem cool? Why, why would people say that their petty rivalry with the Democratic party is more important than the safety of the children of America! I am disappointed in you people.

Why is everybody being so mean seriously this video is not about politics....we all just need to stand together to fight something that the government cant do alone so cut the politics crap and just help instead of yelling at him for talking about a subject that everybody wants to here about....you may not like the other things he does ok so but this is not the time this is about coming together to make a change not fight change....so make time for some love in your busy schedule of hate so we can make this place a better one to love in.

I love each and every one of you, and if I have my way with the world, IT WILL GET BETTER. Better for not only homosexuals, but for each and every person who has ever been mistreated or judged for being different. Love you guys!

@SaitoNetwork It's all good! I'm not offended and thank you for replying for your stance on it because it's just a discussion. You are DEFINITELY correct about any forms of bullying being wrong. A child/teen should not be victimized of that...I totally agree. The reason why Obama along with other public figures have become involved with speaking out about LGBT bullying is because LGBT youth suicide rates is 4 times more than heterosexual youth and 62% of bullying amongst youth are LGBT.

This made me bawl like a baby, and I have no idea why. For ANYONE who tells you and convinces you that your future is doomed to be as bleak as it may be now, they're lying to you. You will not be this age and at this state in your life forever, and life is too short to be brought down by the words of others who don't believe in your vision or your way of life. Face the world straight on with the knowledge that you are never alone, and that It DOES Get Better.

Here in Germany, we have a lady who worked her way up (as a protestant woman from the east), used to be a scientist and never stopped thinking like one. Dear Americans, take your pick, who do *you* want as your leader: Some guy who participates in a project against bullying or someone who was a bully himself and (the latter being the point because everyone did dumb things when they're young) claims not to remember it at all and doesn't even bother *pretending* that he felt guilty and is sorry?
@starcastically13 жыл бұрын
@chibhatt24 I think the question in that case ought to be why we continue to allow bullying to be "an inevitable part of growing up." Why do we teach our kids that they should just grin and bear it until it's over, because people are just "going to do that," just going to torment them? Why don't we try teaching them that it is NOT ACCEPTABLE to torment others? Why don't we teach our kids mutual respect for other human beings? Why don't we promote acceptance?

Y'know, at least Obama agreed to personally come out and do this. Even if he did write the speech beforehand (or had someone else do it), he himself is in front of the camera. And considering how many enemies this man has that are themselves opposed to homosexuality on some ridiculous 'moral' grounds, that says a lot about how strongly he feels about the issue. So I say 'bravo' Mr. President.

No one should be bullied or looked down upon due their sexuality or for anything that cannot be controlled. I feel that it's everyone's responsibility to stand up for compassion. I'm glad that Obama took the time to be an activist. As someone who's straight, I've always felt that any discrimination any LGBT people is essentially horrible...However, let's face it...a lot of the bullying is learned from their parents. People must learn that hatred of ANY kind is wrong.

It's one thing to ... find an internet community, or have, say, a famous musician speak out, but it's a whole different level if the freakin president of the United States of America participates in such an action. Also, politics aside, this... this is just true, so true, and it's beautifully said. As someone who was bullied herself, (for other reasons) I can only say that bullying and/or discrimination are some of the ugliest things humans are capable of and how the most important thing for young people in these situations is to find a source of streght, to know that they're not alone, that it's not them who are in the wrong and that they can stop being helpless victims and become active, adult people.

Why not? Every breath that you take as a person, every word you speak and thought you think validates the fact that you exist, and that you matter as a human being. Yeah...you're still avoiding what I said. Obama has introduced legislation to help with jobs, also to help people keep their homes in times of crisis, affordable healthcare, and to help make their homes more energy efficient. But, like I said, since people aren't paid a decent wage, it isn't enough to make ends meet. So, no food stamps aren't desirable, but for many people they are neccessary because they aren't paid enough. And I DID respond to your wall street comment.

Parents need to keep the lines of communication open with their kids. According to the Guttmacher Institute, children aged 13 to 24 made up 17 percent - nearly one fifth - of those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in 2008. It is critical that parents moniter those adults who want to help "mentor" your vulnerable child. And its good for kids to keep their antenna tuned as well.
@johalieb113 жыл бұрын
This is very good. Pretty deep and understanding. Obama was supposedly ridiculed and teased initially for being black in Indonesia (Muslim country that is pretty homogenous in skin tone and hair ie 'racially") before he overcame it. He knows what it's like to be a kid and be different, and also, firsthand that it (obviously for him) gets better.

One thing I would mention is that saying "There are caring adults you can turn to" just sounds like a naive assumption. I mean there could be, but it's also possible some of the individuals watching this will have no source of support. There should be a component that addresses that scenario too.
@BBrucker212 жыл бұрын
Let me state first that I like Obama, and strongly support what the It Gets Better campaign stands for. (No matter what one may think about GLBTs, bullying is wrong!) Nonetheless, I find something odd about the comments. Presently, the #1 comment is saying Obama is a great President, while the #2 comment is criticizing someone for saying Obama is a bad President, and stating politics should be left out of the discussion. So...politics are okay only if they're pro-Obama? Hypocrisy, anyone?
