Yeah thought it was strange is not easy playing like that, having second player get lost in camera angle and reappear next to the other player

It’s a unreal engine 3 game,those usually don’t work great on switch. Most probably CPU bandwidth issues here...

Not true i been playing it and had no trouble with frame rate and the load times are pretty fast not at all long. There about thr same as the PC one don't miss this masterpiece of a game it's well made and there not many palfomers out there any more. I can feel thr heart and soul out into this game.

Man recommending a hat in time is hard. Solid game, but no port is the best. The Switch has frame drops while the Xbox One and PS4 don't have the later patches or the DLC. I would say the PC version is the best, but the game is pretty poorly optomised. With visuals that aren't to complicated, it should run better. That and for me, controller support was bad. It couldn't detect my controller 90% of the time. The times that it did detect it, it got confused and kept switching to keyboard. I only got it working properly once, out of 15. But that was years ago, and I finished the game on PS4. So they might have fixed it

I played it last year at around this time & I didn’t have issues with controller support. Can’t get a constant 60fps with a GTX 1080 though. Game looks so visually basic so it’s all down to bad optimization.

I was hoping that it was just my switch that was broken and I just needed to get it fixed. unfortunately it's able to run breath of the wild with very little issue..... which sucks cuz I want to show this game to my friend but I can't until they fix the performance issues. I don't want his first experience to be low quality and laggy.

I played A Hat In Time on PC and can say that the base game was good. Camera wasn't that big an issue for me there though. Each world was unique and the lack of a map didn't really bother me as they were divided up into smaller sections that you could mentally map. I have to agree though that the Seal The Deal DLC was a let down. The camera did become a major issue on the ship which I could not navigate even with the arrows pointing you around which flipped objectives all the time. The rewards for completing the harder levels also weren't motivating enough for me to bother grabbing them. Nyakuza Metro on the other hand, looks to be more in line with the base game and more fun than Seal the Deal. Visually, the Switch version is definitely a downgrade. Coupled with the performance issues that are very evident in this video, if you can play it on PC play it there instead.

It's possible. On November 8th with New Super Lucky's Tale. Platformers are killing my wallet this month & next month. But I'm totally fine with it because 2d & 3d collectathon platformers are my favorite genre of all time.

@@slaingirlfound They went to Humble not Panic Button. And you don't know how much effort they spent on making this game run on Switch at this level. For all we know it could have been even more than The Witcher 3; we just have no way to know. All we know is that the game had to be converted from an engine not fit for the system and was considered impossible not too long ago.

I think there are huge issues with the engine. Initially they said they couldn't make a switch version at all. We aren't fully aware of how the technical stuff works. Remember that the first Red Dead Redemption still isn't playable on PC.

Needs a better team for optimization. Capped at 30 in 720p is a shortcut for developers who just want to make it atleast run with minimal effort.

@chimebirds Im more than aware the switch is less powerful, that said there are plenty of console quality games on switch that are optimized without sacrificing graphical fidelity. Also a hat in time is not a demanding game graphically, with better optimization i have no doubt this game can achieve 1080p. If the game wasnt ported in house then the other team is possibly to blame for its short comings. Im not expecting something on par with the PC version but surely better than 720p docked, frame dips, and constant stuttering.

how's handheld mode? I have the original switch along with the switch lite and I primary play handheld mode so the switch lite is my new main switch

Anime Freak I played mostly docked, but the few times I put it in handheld mode, it seemed to be about the same experience, with an equal or maybe more tendency to stutter. Visually it still looks fine. I think regardless of you choose to play, you’ll be getting some performance hiccups. But I completed the whole game, and still enjoyed my time with despite those issues.

@PK Starstorm I still want to be surprised by a game. I just want to know if the game fits my taste and how good the most important aspects are. Most details are useless information because they say nothing about quality. Supposedly each level in a chapter is called an ''act'' and each chapter has 6+3 acts, but why would I care? This still says nothing about the length and consistency of the game.

@@hubblebublumbubwub5215 Sure, but that also tells the viewer that there are segments / missions in each of these areas, and is sued as a segue to elaborate on the different types of missions, the worlds being open but having different objectives, and even mentioning the short change in the DLC. I hear what you're saying on wanting a quick n' easy review, but this one spends it's time breaking things down, which shows me that the reviewer tried to make sure everything was covered in the product. As a prospective consumer, I appreciate that, but to each their own.

@@DaWild I can see what the commenter means. He struggled at the fetch mission in Arctic Cruise, which I personally found great, have no complaints about, and thought was a great way to learn the ship's layout. I also feel the camera is the best I've ever experienced in a 3D platformer. And the Death Wish missions had an amazingly fun level of difficulty that played a big part in me deciding that Hat in Time became one of my favorite games of all time after playing it with the DLCs. HOWEVER, if the game stutters on Switch, I can easily imagine those same crazy fun Death Wishes becoming a nightmare.

@Solo Nepeon They made a full collecthon game on a budget of 300k (though it's less if you remove taxes and such). Before the kickstarter some of them worked full time jobs and made the game in their free time. How are they lazy? The Wii U was just a piece of shit for third party developers. Xenoblade X worked because it was built from the ground up for Wii U.
