Way too much oil for my taste. We make our version way healthier, by blanching the apples, rind of lemon, nuts, sugar and spices in a very tiny little amount of water in a pan. When the water has almost almost away, then we add a tiny bit of unsalted butter, stir, and then we drizzle the filling onto the phyllo sheets. When the baking of the strudel is done, we then brush the phyllo with honey. It is sumptuous and filling, especially with the honey brushed onto the phyllo after it comes out of the oven.

Instead of using olive oil, I'm going to melt plant butter with olive oil. Takes like regular butter but healthier.

Granny Smith was born in the uk but moved out to Australia in the 1800s. She lived in a Sydney suburb of Eastwood where an apple tree appeared in a creek on her property. It was green and sharp and good for cooking. As her family loved the green apple she started growing trees and orchards. Every October in Eastwood there's a Granny Smith festival in her memory. And that's where and how the green Granny Smith apples stared. Granny Smith was buried at St Anne's Church Ryde, a town close to Eastwood

I love your channel and recipe by books! Have you ever made Italian sfogliatelle? ( which means puff pastry in Italian). It has a ricotta and dried fruit mixture inside and is shaped like a shell. It has the most delectable crunchy sweet taste-- and it's one of my favorites as well as cannoli. I was wondering if you could use this type of phyllo and if it comes in gluten free varieties as well. ❤️

Never use olive oil for frying its smoke point is too low and it burns, it's also savory and too strong a flavor for sweet recipes...use AVOCADO OIL!! Very good for you and high smoke point AND NO FLAVOR TO IT for sweet recipes; No olive oil on the dough either! yuk its a savory oil, not for sweets!
