Coming from me as a dentist (of course go with your own dentist I’m sure you trust them, not trying to interfere in your treatment) - but I just need to say don’t expect the click in your jaw joints to disappear, it usually doesn’t change at all with braces. But good luck and hope you’re happy with the change in your teeth 😊🙏🏻

What causes that anyway? Is there a name for it?
@deamasnov1912
@deamasnov1912 3 жыл бұрын
@@GoodandDelicious it's actually because of the problem in the temporomandibular joint, the joint that connects the upper and lower jaw. There isn't any particular solution for this condition but the alignment of the bite should help a bit and also prevent it to get worse over time.

I got Invisalign right at the beginning of the pandemic & realized it was THE BEST TIME to do it because we're all staying at home (it'll help make you more diligent about keeping those trays on your mouth all day), not going out to eat (not having to bring gross tray holder in your purse, toothbrush & toothpaste & excusing yourself to bathroom to put them in & out), no public events, and wearing a mask in public! The lisp subsides after a week or so, each new tray will make your teeth sore a day or two, and all of a sudden the end of 6 months will be here before you know it and VIOLA! Beautiful teeth! You'll be so happy with your results. I was ecstatic.

@lb5461

The first week of Invisalign is the absolute worst, so don’t worry. My advice to you is wear them for the minimum 22 hours, as hard as that is to do, your results are a direct reflection of your commitment. Nearing my final trays I started slacking off with wearing them and when I went to my final appointment they told me I should get one more set (of 16!!) because there wasn’t enough progression made 😭 nothing worse than thinking you’re at the finish line when you’re really at the halfway mark, hahah. Overall, 1000% worth it, you just have to really be diligent with wearing them!

I just finished Invisalign! My treatment was delayed for 6 months total through the process because of COVID... so happy to finally have those stupid attachments off! I was only to change trays once a week so to be perfectly honestly I did not wear them 22 hours a day and it was no big deal. If you change them more often you should be stricter. I talked to people who always would just go ahead and drink anything with them in (I didn’t do that) - especially with Covid who cares if the tray yellows a bit since your changing it often anyways. It’s fun 🤪 good luck!

Word of caution on Invisalign definitely consult with an Orthodontist. I think they are an excellent option for some tooth corrections but they do have serious limitations with regard to certain bite corrections and in some cases can actually make a bite problem worse. Such was the case for me, I had an overbite and went into Invisalign with my dentist. Results looked beautiful but my bite became a living nightmare TMJ grew mind numbing and the only fix? Traditional braces (I’m in acrylic). Met with 5 orthodontist in my city many adult clients are Invisalign failures. Having had both now which was more comfortable? Traditional hands down.

Allana the TMJ issue I had was worsened because I clenched my jaw while I slept (and grinded my teeth) but I was able to help it by getting a small tooth mold to sort of keep my top and bottom teeth separated! Maybe that could be something that you look into?

I use to have a gap in between my front teeth but when wisdom teeth come in they pushed things tighter together and my gap vanished, maybe that’s part of why your teeth went from gapped, to together, to overlapping.

Too funny! I never noticed my jaw clicked, but it drove my mom crazy! My teeth are straight, but they tilt slightly backward. I had braces put on right before I graduated from HS and had to go to college with them. I went through two and a half years of therapy for TMJ. My teeth moved back after braces, even with a retainer, and my jaw never stopped popping. I'm 50 now...it still clicks, and I still never even notice!

I also had the jaw clicking thing, it was diagnosed as a Temporal Mandibular Joint Problem (TMJP) and I had pain as well. It also meant that I will have a higher risk of dislocating my jaw. When I got braces it helped with the pain so much and lessened the clicking of my jaw.

Heck yeah to deciding later to fix teeth! I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one that put off doing it as a teen/in college. I do have normal braces 😭 but I had soooo much over crowding, that click too, had to have teeth removed which left so much space that my orthodontist recommended them since it’s easier to course correct with my situation. I have the ceramic ones tho so the only thing noticeable is the wire, which most people don’t even realize is there. I’m preppy much at the end of the 2 years with them 🙌🏼

You will have to wear the final retainer forever at night when you sleep. Your teeth will shift forever. You might notice more tightness when you pop in the retainer at night if your have heavily chewed gum that day. But it will def help fix your bite, jaw issues and you'll notice that you'll have less headaches and tension overall. Just make sure to wear your retainer nightly!!!

once the lisp went away, then you will have to adjust again when finally you got them off! lol I used a similar product as invisalign and it was hell for the first week. I had to have my teeth sliced (and it was hella painful 😫), the constant brushing (I got it before covid, so imagine if you eat outside you'll have to bring travel toothbrush with you as well), no snacking or even flavored drinks (especially sugary ones), the lisps, not to mention when I got the retainer off, it also felt weird because my whole mouth had been adjusted to em 😂 but yeah the result is very worth all the mess, and I hope yours too!

I got invisalign three weeks ago and GIRL the first tray was easy breezy not too bad, that second try i just switched to was a pain. I feel like my snacking has gone down a lot because I don’t want to keep putting my fingers in my mouth to pop them out especially in these times

The lisp DOES get better! And you notice it much more than other people do. I am near the end of my treatment. It's a great time to do it with the pandemic, with the masks most people don't know I even have it!

Try adding some Costco Kirkland almond butter to your oatmeal. It's sooo good and it adds some good fats into your meal!

6 months is not that long, you'll get used to it very quickly! I wore the original metal braces when I was a teenager for 2 WHOLE YEARS!!! And it was an absolute hell haha Love u

The updated way people straighten their teeth nowadays with Invisalign instead of the old fashioned metal braces seems like such a dream come true. I had the old school metal braces for 8 years and then also had to wear Invisalign for 3 years afterwards. I mean, no regrets, but what I would have given to just have Invisalign instead of those metal chompers for so many years.

Ahhh, I hate to hear that you mention that Everlane is a sustainable company. Because they are not a true sustainable brand!! They are a company that green washes and does not have proof from third party certifications showcasing they are a sustainable brand. I have just been educating myself on this brand most recently because I came across an ad from Everlane and thought their whole radically transparent slogan was cool, though when I took a further deep into learning about them I was shown countless videos from other knowledge people on ze KZbin, that rate sustainable brands and have passions for sustainable clothes and products, and unfortunately Everlane is not one of them! I really hope you watch a video on Everlane as other people can give way better info on the flaws Everlane has calling themselves a sustainable brand. Much love though, as Everlane does have cute minimal pieces! But please please don’t promote Everlane as a true sustainable brand😪 One of my first videos that introduced me to the term green washing is “Is Everlane really ethical?” By Levi Hildebrand

The 5minute white products are by far my favorite. I’ve tried all of the strips and professional gels from the dental offices I work at. The 5minute white doesn’t make my teeth sensitive and it works!

Estée Lalonde has been promoting the white strips from spotlight oral care and they are supposed to be okay for sensitive teeth. Just a suggestion? I can’t say for sure as I haven’t tried them, but she said that they worked for her.
