A Healthy Housing Project: ECOASIS

Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS) is a recognized disability. People experiencing MCS often have difficulty finding healthy housing. Chemicals and other exposures in the environment (such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released through laundry drier vents, which can enter through open windows or air exchangers), and similar exposures from the off gassing of VOCs from commonly used products which are used within shared living spaces, such as apartments, condos and town houses, can make people with MCS very sick and unable to function. There is a great need for a healthy environment free of chemicals that trigger MCS. ECOASIS will provide a healthy space for people with MCS, where they will be able to live freely without chemical exposures that cause symptoms, heal, and become productive members of the community again.
