Sakura was a Japanese idol in japan already and already had experience way before joining le sserafim. She venture in the kpop scene when she joined a survival show that created the temporary girl group i zone. From there hybe entertainment recruited her to be in le sserafim and thats where her korean improved since she barely speak any korean

One thing in kpop is you don’t even need to speak korean. Its helpful but if your talented and pretty they can always teach and train you. Blackpink lisa and Sakura for example didn’t speak korean at all but they do now …. The agency teaches you language skills too so they can also speak multiple languages just like how blackpink lisa does. Lisa did not go to school in any western country or lived there but still speaks fluent english. 😂

In korea, the surname comes first so “Kim Chaewon” Kim is her surname and Chaewon her first name

Sakura debuted in HKT48 a sub group of the main AKB48 which is located in Tokyo. Her group is in southern japan in fuokuka. She was part of the First generation of idols for that group. She debuted in 2011 at 13 in Oct I believe. In AKB48 there are over 300 members all over japan in the sister groups in the different regions/cities. Being an idol in japan is different than it is in Korea. In japan they focus more on fan service and looks. More soo than vocals/dance synchronized dance like Kpop does. Recently that has begun to change within akb48 when izone broke up they had 3 Japanese members : Sakura, nako who came from the same group HKT48 and went back. And Hitomi who was from AKB48 in Tokyo. She went back to her group for 2 years and made sure to train them how she did in Kpop her group. Sakura graduated from HKT48 in June of 2021. Sakura was extremely popular in her Japanese idol group. And popular in izone. The way to gain popularity in AKB48/ sister groups was through a general election that they held a big concert and at the end of it they would announce the top 100 popular members. It’s still kinda confusing to me how you would gain popularity. Besides each group had their selection of members that would go on variety shows. Hand shake events etc. They way a fan would vote for the idol they like was to buy an akb48 single album which held the 1 vote. So yeahhh. Sakura ranked from the very beginning in 2012 her first year and continued up. Her final ranking was 3rd out of 300 members. She would have got 1 if she didn’t participate in the survival show that formed izone. But, she choose to do it to get better at singing and dancing. Because the only way members would get training is if they paid for it themselves when they had time. Only the popular Members got paid well. Sorry for the information dump. So Sakura first real training trainee like how Koreans do is when she joined hybe to get into le sserafim. The survival show was kinda hard on the Japanese members to get training. So idk if you’ve watched it but their is a documentary on how they were formed on LE SSERAFIM KZbin called “The World Is My Oyster” - its 4 parts. They do edit out garam because they didn’t have the rights to her anymore at that point. Garam was accused of bullying when she was 12 - she was sticking up for her friend who was bullied. Her friend got pictures taken of her undressed and the girl bully posted it on social media. So she went to confront her to tell her to take it down. Garam was punished for trying to help protect her friend in school. The bully saw garam debut trailer and decided to sue her. Really it’s a big thing I don’t want you to hear bout it. She was a target to get out of the group because there was a lot of buzz around her for her beauty and potential. LE SSERAFIM just came out with their second documentary which leads up to easy cb. “MAKE IT LOOK EASY” - that’s 5 parts. I think you will enjoy bot documentaries. Anyways sorry again for the long rant. I love all the girls and each are precious and inspiring

I’m wayy more into boy groups(follow their journey/ watch content) and for the most part I just listen to girl groups but since le sserafim has debuted I’ve loved them, they are the only girl group who I listen/watch/follow their journey. Also Garam had bullying allegations (“she bullied”) it was proven FALSE and being in the group for 2/3 months but put on hiatus for most of the time hybe/source music terminated her contract. Bullying is taken very seriously and can RUIN a celebrities career. Ex. (G)-idle Soojin was in the group for 2 years and in 2022 she was kicked out for bullying allegations that were also FALSE it’s absolutely horrible that it happens to so many idols and depending on how the company manages with backlash is how the idols career will change or stay the same
