Honestly, I just find it purely hilarious that the implied next villain of the game is gonna be Lil' Judd. Like, you got this cool backstory about being a clone who hates the original so much he's willing to assassinate him, and he now runs a shady business that gives him an unprecedented amount of power. And it's a fucking kitty cat that runs it. I just know the confrontation is gonna kill me with laughter.

The probability of you seeing this is low, but from what I’m understanding to be ultimately be Lil’ Judd’s grand scheme is to make an army of clones. Your last opponent in Table Turf is "Clone Jelly" which is already off putting as you go from tackling nearly all the game’s npcs to only fighting a jellyfish with such a bizarre name. At first I ignored this bit of info until I remember the very last sunken scroll in the campaign, showing off the many identities of Marigold. At first, I initially interpreted this sunken scroll that Marigold lived a life of crime until she settled down in Splatzville after going through multiple identities, but upon closer inspection, I noticed that the game specifically called her "Subject: Marigold." It should also be known that Marigold is the receptionist at Grizzco which could tie into Lil’ Judd’s and Grizz’s potential partnership. Despite us not being able to see her, you can still make out her voice. I believe this is Nintendo trying to hint that everyone’s favorite evil clone is about to make an army. Update: THIS JUST HIT ME LITERALLY ON THE CAR RIDE HOME FROM UNI. In the last sunken scroll we know there are a total of three identities, but there are a total of 4 Marigolds. One for recon, tableturf, the snack shop, and grizzco, but the thing is that we only see three of them. The one at Grizzco is hidden. This gives me reason to suspect that the one at Grizzco could potentially be the original Nintendo is hiding her from us. (Also yes I know the three of identities include locations but let me have this!)

Why would Lil Judd want to make more clones? his whole thing is wanting to be the only Judd. Cloning jellyfish and Marigold is irrelevant, if not the antithesis of that.

Honestly whole cloning angle makes a lot of sense for a single player campaign Every single player campaign has had some version of octarians from normal ones, sanitized, and furry ones (forgot the name) It would be a smart way to incorporate em into a campaign as a cloned variant with Lil Judd being the one who made em and leading em

My biggest complaint/question about the ending of Splatoon 3’s story mode was “But what about Salmon run tho?” All this evidence is enough for me to be fairly confident why the business is still running, but I still believe it was a mistake to not explain why we continue to *work* for Grizz Co. after finding out what it was for and what its doing. If that was made more clear, id give the campaign a 9/10

I feel that. I remember watching someone beat the campaign live and someone in the chat said, "Well....going back to salmon run is gonna be a bit awkward now.". Like we know what the salmon eggs are for and what mr grizz's motive (despite him being sentenced to floating in outer space for the rest of his days) therefore it would feel...wrong to continue that which almost rid the world of aquatic lifeforms.

honestly, the way I interpret it, which means it doesn't bother me at all, is basically that, well, the way Agent 3 sees it is that it doesn't matter NOW what it was for, because the plan failed and Grizz now can't now try it again, so it doesn't matter how many golden eggs are gathered now if their malicious purpose is no more.

My headcannon is that almost all of Grizzco is operated automatically. Grizz make it work the first time and it's never stopped. Remember, inkling society is much more advanced than us now, so I don't think it would be too out there.

@@bubbleproductions1997 I didn't think about this, but it makes sense. Deep Cut's comments on the Great Zapfish's appearance at the end of story mode might be an indication that it's dying, and they're gonna need _something_ to power the city when that happens.

Currently, we have two confirmed uses for golden eggs - fuzzy ooze creation, and use as a weapon. Additionally, they can most likely be used as a power source (power eggs, which come from salmonids, are used as a power source for octarians, and golden eggs are just larger power eggs). While it may be possible that Lil' Judd could be able to create fuzzy ooze himself due to his intelligence exceeding that of a normal cat, I do not expect this to be the case due to how this was already the plot of 3's campaign (though we're talking about splatoon story modes here, so i wouldn't be surprised if they went this route anyway). This leaves us with two options - Lil' Judd is either generating an immense amount of power for some reason, or he is planning on building a massive egg cannon. While the latter would fit the chaoticness of Splatoon lore, I would expect Lil' Judd to have something better up his sleeve, so I would not expect that to be his plan. This means that we can narrow down Lil' Judd's plan to only one likely option - he needs energy, and lots of it. What he is using this energy for is beyond me.

there's a theory I saw that explains that lil Judd needs all that power to build a clone army. lil Judd's a clone himself, and we know the different marigolds found around splatsville (most notably running the grizzco kiosk) are most likely clones as well, so its possible lil Judd wants to make clones of either the brilliant professor or himself to take over the world.

I’ve always thought that Grizz wasn’t truly neutral in order to hide his true intentions; now knowing them, I think he’d be on Order. That would put him against the Salmonids, and his motives are similar to fellow Order member Tartar.

Did you not watch the video? It definitely makes sense why grizzco is still running. But if your thinking “why are they still in business? After story mode wouldn’t everyone stop doing salmon run?” The other inklings and octolings have no idea what happened in the story mode. They still don’t know what grizzco is doing, so it’s the same as it’s always been to them. Sorry this is long just wanted to explain
