I have a bit of a selfish request to all viewers. I'm SOO CLOSE to getting my videos monetized (meaning I can start making money off of ads which KZbin plays on videos regardless of if a channel has monetization enabled or not). If you could share the video with others to help boost my watch time, that would be the best Christmas/New Year's Gift you guys could offer. I also hope you enjoy my early Christmas gift (this video) everyone :)

@CountSacke so true. The fact of having an objective alone makes you more inclined to learn, if you also make it fun and useful then you'll be teaching the next NASA.

Using this to calculate the total playable area would be interesting. The most updated calculation I have seen is 78.1 square km on the overworld, but that was on the 5.1 map.
@CountSacke
@CountSacke 21 күн бұрын
It's certainly possible to do so. In fact, I originally was going to do that in this video, however, I decided to just focus on the development of the equations and the method. I could try it, but on its own separate video.

I wonder how much is Genshin's in-world distance scale is. Natlan to Mond being just 13km away from each other is just too small. I know that the in-game world is scaled down to make the game playable, but imagine that if we actually plop ourselves in Teyvat, then Natlan and Mond could be hundreds or thousands of kilometers apart. Is there some in-game lore that mentions the actual distance between two places in Teyvat?
@CountSacke
@CountSacke 19 күн бұрын
As far as I know, there isn't any specific number that is given by the dialogue for a distance. At most, I know there are some rough estimations. One I can remember off the top of my head that bugs me is that someone said they can get from Mondstadt to Liyue in a day if they jog the whole way (I don't remember the exact wording but it was something like that). However, this dialogue seems to suggest that Teyvat is actually as big as it is in game which really annoys me. Hoyo always seems to keep doing things that suggest Teyvat is as actually big as it is in game even that can't be the case. I refuse to believe that the entire Liyue Harbor population can fit in like less than 10 houses.

COUNT SACKE BANGERRR!!! You’re one of those KZbinrs like NileRed who I have no idea what they’re talking about, but I just enjoy listening to them so much that I’ll gladly watch super long videos of scientific/mathematical nonsense (2 hour long Count Sacke video when?? 👀) I only just realized I haven’t been subbed to you this entire time, and I don’t comment very often either, which is frankly ludicrous, so here I am doing my part!
@CountSacke

Haha thank you soo much for your kind words. To be compared to NileRed is honestly quite the compliment as I also enjoy his videos (while also not understanding him either lol). As for a 2 hour long video? Uhhhhhhh HAHAHAH Sounds like a lot of work. I feel like it would be easier to have a video that's split into multiple parts then combine them into a single video.

This is incredibly useful for people who want to min/max everything, like, you need to get to this certain point, and you find the best way to get there is not for this path that seems shorter, but actually from here because you go faster by using the glider because of stamina consumption, it's too specific, but cool
@CountSacke
@CountSacke 19 күн бұрын
It is a possibility, though I have to say that trying to figure out the distance of curved paths might be really annoying. For the curved parts of the path, you'd have to slice up the path into a bunch of small straight line segments, compute the length of all those small segments, then add them all up. Then again, the alternative of having the player run through the path to calculate the distance would also be very time consuming lol.

What a really interesting video! I was pulled to your channel from the terminal velocity video and this video might be the one that piqued my interest the most to this date. This video might also reignite my postponed personal investigation about the bearing of Chasm Underground (which connected to Sumeru through a plant root that instantly teleport to Sumeru, but this very same roots are located at the opposite direction to Sumeru). Your scale might come really handy in this investigation. Thank you so much for this informative video! (If i do complete my crackpot theory, i will cite this video in the future lol 😆)

I'd recommend using the sea for gathering data with quest tracker I'm sure there are quests with basically 0 elevation against the sea level and with furina you walk to the right corner of the map or without furina from the secret island in mondstadt to somewhere in inazuma you could measure
@CountSacke
@CountSacke 22 күн бұрын
The quest tracker can be useful when it's available, though, as you have mentioned, you need to find places with similar elevation. In your case, it requires that you have a quest marker that is near sea-level. There might only be a handful of quests available that I haven't completed but I don't know. This is why this video largely ignored it and instead based it around player movement which is something everyone can do anywhere. I specifically went with gliding (for the Teyvat and Enkanomiya maps) since I measured the horizontal and vertical speeds independently and if you're gliding from a high place, you don't have to deal with terrain issues. One thing I still need to do is measure underwater swimming speed though so that's one area where I may have no choice but to use a quest tracker.

@CountSacke I was thinking of using some quest from dailies in inazuma
@CountSacke
@CountSacke 22 күн бұрын
@dan2800 Well okay, though just saying you will still have a bit of error (though negligible in the grand scheme of things). I just have a habit of trying to really minimize error as much as I can. Even if it is a bit unreasonable at times.
@CountSacke
@CountSacke 23 күн бұрын
Something I'd like to clarify, everyone has to measure z_tot and z_0 for themselves. If ρ100% and ρ0% are truly the same regardless of resolution, then that means you don't have to measure it yourself too (again, I'm not really sure about how valid this is. Maybe it depends on the map. Idk). However, it is guaranteed that you'll have to measure z_tot and z_0. Alternatively, you could always just stick to measuring distances when fully zoomed in and or out. Then you only need ρ100% and ρ0%.

HAHAHA It's okay. It was a very subtle thing after all. The error was based on an assumption that I didn't very explicitly point out (which is how I originally approached it. I just assumed an equation for it then got very confused as to why it was wrong)
