2:49 Looking at single howitzer "division" with 2,1% reliability, it seems the game has a malus to reliability of equipment depending how little of it is in the battalion. So the game forces you to lose exponentially more equipment the less of it you have? That's absolutely vile and I don't recall it being mentioned to work this way anywhere.

I learned the trick in this Antasil video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/n57UnmmhfKapabs ; but he himself said in the comments he doesn't get how Historical AI Belgium gets a war goal on Congo. Belgium gets the war goal very quickly after releasing Congo as a puppet, so it may be linked to a specific focus but it's not through a focus. At the present time, I do not have the ability to check how it exactly works in-game (gave my gaming PC to my brother).

​@@lassassindu5071 after a little more testing timing definitely plays into it. Previously I was releasing the Congo in June of 38, no wargoal. Just did another run and released in early 39, wargoal. I haven't played new Belgium yet so not sure what the difference is but I'm guessing there's a focus or the different leaders play a role.

On my first playthrough I release it after I annexed Denmark and Hungary - instead of war goal Belgium started improving relations. On my 2nd and 3rd playthrough I did not annexed anyone prior to releasing Congo and it worked like a charm. Someone will have to confirm if this is related.

To this day I still don't understand why the democratic path is monarchist. By this point there were barely any monarchist supporters left in germany, the vast majority of germany's right wing (including Zentrum that you play as) were all aboard the nazi train

Easy to explain.Contrary to your claim, there were still relatively strong monarchist sentiments in Germany back then, especially among the military/officer corps and the upper class; ergo highly influential social and military elites. In fact, one of the main reasons the Weimar Republic failed was because it failed to garner support from to these very groups; ultimately, it was the DNVP, a conservative party with strong monarchist leanings, that accepted a coalition offer from the NSDAP which allowed the latter to form a majority government in '33. The respective focus "Monarchy Compromise" in HOI4 explicitly touches on that, and pretty much states that the sole reason why going down that route establishes a parliamentary monarchy instead of a democratic Republic is to appease aforementioned monarchist groups and get them to support the new government. So all in all I'd say that this althistory route is actually one of the more realistic ones we got in the game. Minus the European Unity speedrun of course that stems from it in the end. The Zentrumspartei also wasn't "all aboard the nazi train"; they only voted for the Enabling Act because the ongoing system of the so-called Präsidialkabinette had long since hollowed out the German democracy and made fixing the country de facto impossible. So they're only to blame in the way that they made the mistake of trusting von Papen's claim of being able to reign in Hitler and control him.

@@vahlen5281 Yeah you're right about monarchist sentiment remaining among some of the old guard at the top, but in terms of the populous, the monarchy was seen as the institution that led germany into the abyss, plus not to mention that a lot of these monarchists' problem wasn't that Germany had no king but that they wanted a strong autocratic government again. I'd also argue that the German right should've listened to the warnings about the NSDAP but thats neither here nor there, they threw their lot in with Hitler regardless. Dude, I want you to get more views and stuff, because I like the way you talk and I used to watch your videos constantly. For what I have seen in other HOI4 videos, is that they need to last between 10 and maximum of 30 minutes. Second, is to talk constantly with the audience, making jokes about the game. Also, two important aspects in editing, firstly the thumbnails, those are REALLY important, add jokes to the thumbnails to make it better. And another thing, is to play as minor nations forgotten by the community and make them BIG, like Mexico for example.

I don't think you can invite the Benelux. You can get them into your facton normally, but it takes longer and you can get blocked if they do neutral foreign policy

I am not sure if this works in versions above 1.15, but if you get economy of conquest the peg you dont get any the consumer goods factor and with all of the focuses you can get -75% consumer goods factor (if i remember correctly)

My personal theory is that the Ottoman empire/Turkey was more westernised and historically orientated towards Europe. Meanwhile Russia was always undecided towards westernisation or going towards asia. Then after the revolution completely burn the "european bridges" and never really tried to restore them.

@@Taureor If only there was a word that could be used to describe such a state... a word like Eurasian. Also, the amount of Russian territory that lies within Europe's currently defined borders is still larger than many countries on the planet, so to state that the gigantic country is more of one thing than the other just because the giant-er part of it lies on the other side of the Urals is a bit of a moot point. Russia is historically, ethnically, linguistically, and religiously connected to Europe. That's not to discount all the non-Russian minorities that live within its borders who aren't European, but they are, because of centuries of Russification policies under first the Tzars then the Soviets, minorities in their own homelands. Russia is European in everything _except_ for geography, and in that category, I'd label it Eurasian. It's definitely more European than Turkey, which meets none of the categories except for history.
