I took my Vietnam Era Large ALICE pack and did some modifications and that's my BOB/INCH bag. I went down to Eberlestock here in Boise and they were wanting $400+ for a bag. So I just Modded out my ALICE.

I have their 35l 915d Cordura polyester , It is very well made. Mine I use for e-biking as I ride all year. I need it for food shopping and other supplies. I only have it a week now, so far so good. It had all the bells and whistles I wanted. The only thing that would make it better to me is making it from 1000d Cordura nylon, And if it came with a rain cover, it did not like so many of their packs do.

@@DixiBoy5150 true.. looks like an old school Alice pack.. unfortunately the back frame system on that pack is extremely outdated.. Hopefully one day we can bring back high level manufacturing of backpacks and survival gear to America.. as of now, it’s just too expensive to make products like that at home! Thanks for watching!

Everyone needs a "bag" of some sort. Flooding or fire might mean un-ass your home ASAP. Would that include items that you would bug out with during civil unrest, our government attacking us covertly? Just as the military has different kits for seasonal or mission type, we may need the same. We could have a primary bag that goes with us no matter the situation, and then have a few bags with items specific to season or scenario. I am too old to go backpacking into Appalachia, so my bags are for travel and in case I get stuck somewhere and natural disasters where I can drive out assuming I had enough warning. Stuff is going to be left behind without a doubt, but what is left behind should be a decision made ahead of time.

In my opinion the only difference in my bags is the amount of food. My bag is 27liter but for winter i add molle bags for coldweather gear. I don't believe in different bags because something will get left behind. I use my bag for extended camping. That's the best test. The only real difference in winter is the sleeping bag an how it mounts. Everything else is the same. I also have my van setup for survival.

Good to know. I'll probably get one to check it out. I'm currently using a 45L pack. High quality, but could use a bit more room. I'm really focused on reducing the overall weight of my pack. Currently, I'm at 34 lbs. with complete load out. For me, that 45L-55L pack is the sweet spot. How much does your new pack weight with total load out? Winter load out?
@idahoprepper
@idahoprepper Күн бұрын
@@paulzimmerman3895 Yeah, they’re great packs for sure.. My only real issue with the smaller liter packs is once I put my sleeping bag and sleeping pad inside, I had hardly any room left for much else, and I didn’t like having those items strapped to the outside of the pack.. so it was really just about finding a pack that I could fit all my gear inside of plus my sleep system.. My entire pack out weighs just over 40 lbs. it really adds up fast when you include filled water containers and ammo for both a pistol and rifle.. 😅 Thanks for watching!

You can have really good items made in Asia, or really terrible. Curious what your experience between them after hiking 5 miles under load. Is it real codura or just like codura

All the these cheap pack manufacturers on Amazon interchangeable use the word Cordura for polyester... When Cordura is not polyester, but is nylon... It's actually deception... Cordura was trademarked by Du Pont and cost money...🤷‍♂️

@@unchannelbyryan yeah I haven’t had the chance to hike with it yet.. but I hope to do so soon and will definitely make a video and update everyone with my take on it.. In all honesty I probably wouldn’t deploy to a war zone with this bag, but for regular civilian type use I’m sure it will work very well! I don’t know that much about CORDURA, but I’m now very curious..🤔 I figured when I saw the word polyester next to the word cordura, that something was up.. 😆 anyways, thanks for watching!

I personally like a skirt draw string lid that secures with two buckles, and preferably has the ability to hover (vertically adjust height).... Why drawstring ? Because zipper failure is catastrophic... Especially if it's a packs main entrance and closure... I researched Mardingtop for an INCH bag but seen unfavorable reviews regarding loadout SUPPORT (shifting) , buckles (load lifters) not holding weight and slipping ect... and yeah zipper top closure is a no go for me.... I ended up going with a Teton Sports 85L pack....but unfortunately the lid doesn't hover... this particular feature seems non existent in tactical genre packs and lower budget backpacking packs too.... Teton Sports is a trade off tho, as it has no molle, which does suck... But it has three large dedicated non parasitic pockets, which is _very rare_ these days in the backpack world... and those pockets are pass through so I can slide an axe, hiking poles, long arm... etc... thru them... Unfortunately the color selection is not great tho... I went with the tan and black model... Plus it's certainly not genuine nylon Cordura 500 or 1000 but is a much inferior polyester 600 from what I can find... Not great either but it's all a trade off... I paid 100 bucks at Sportsmens Warehouse on sale.... 🤷‍♂️ Good video, thanks for sharing n' God bless brother

INCH? Hmm? Problem with this thinking is you can never stay out forever. From your home yes, but you eventually need sustenance. If we get the EOWAWKI then a lot of things will change . Water could intentionally be tainted, game will be gone soon. Unless it’s intended to get you to a cabin that you have supplies at big out or this kind of INCH bag don’t make that much sense. JMHO

@@mikesalmon9945 Very true.. the idea of a bag having enough gear in it to keep you alive indefinitely is a pretty far fetched concept.. The term I’m never coming home bag, ( inch pack ) I always assumed was meant to to be taken more figuratively than literally.. it’s a dumb name.. I agree! Anyways, thanks for watching!
